Thank you Paulo, Rajan, Pieter, Bob and Francois!
like the star photo;
Tell me what do you think of the Nikon Z7 with 14-24 2.8S ?
i have the old one; it is an important lens to me.
I'm not sure I'm the best person to talk about it, ask Bernard too.
My experience and most importantly comfort level with ultrawide is limited. On Nikon I only had the 18-35, rarely used. I do have the Fuji 10-24 which is used much more often, and ironically my comfort level increased after getting the newer iPhone with the 13 mm equiv.
These being said, I'm happy with it but I feel that I didn't use it yet where it shines. I very rarely used the F2.8, so I could have gotten the 14-30. I specifically got it for astrophotography on the side, but barely did any. Even the star photo, I think it was at F3.5 and ISO 5000.
Sharpness is good but I shot way too much at F16 but default, I need to use more focus highlights to figure a lower aperture that still gives me enough DOF.
Flare resistance is good, but not perfect. For astro, the infinity focus on the lens it's not actually at infinity, big thumbs down.
Weight is manageable, balances well with the Z7 but I mostly hold my systems by the lens so unlikely to have issues; it's only 165g heavier than the 14-30, not really that much to matter (quite wide in the front though).
