Another from JTNP

Sunrise and sunset were the keys that piqued my interest in Joshua Trees and rocks. Should have known :o

That's beautiful light, for sure. The tree on the left is very close to the edge, though. Is a looser crop possible? Just a little bit...

No, not possible, blended from a three shot vertical and I cut the left side a little close. Thanks for the comment and, again, welcome.

Well, I got to thinking about your question @sf and tried to add a little to the left side of the image by expanding the canvas and using content aware fill. It did a good job with only a very small artifact where the sky and rocks meet. That should be easily fixable. See attached.

I think that improves it, David. And of course once you've done it once...

The last version is better, more relaxed but - of course - both share that incredible light.
Well done.

Thanks, Francois (and S). There's still something about that light that seems a little out of balance to me and might have to tweak it a bit.

That little extra room on the left makes it perfect!

When I'm shooting, I try to remember to put on my graphic designer's hat and try to be a little looser with my compositions and to take both vertical and horizontal images. It sometimes feel counter to our "fill the frame" mantra but makes life easier later on, IMO.

With the resolution we have today (no longer in single digits, thank goodness!), a little extra room in our images like our pants and shirts is priceless! ;-)

Good advice, Larry. Now if I can only remember it...  ::)

Wonderful light.
Indeed, Paulo, thanks for the comment. I did work it a little more to remove that which seemed a green cast (to my eye) from the rocks.
