Best Shutter Release Cable
« on: April 01, 2021, 06:31:27 pm »

I am guessing that this is the best forum to ask this on.

I am looking for a really stable, solid, long lasting mechanical shutter release cable.  A long time ago I bought a brilliant one made by Linhof - although fabric coated it lasted me for at least 10 years.  Since then I have been through many versions - cheap ones bought on Amazon, more expensive ones which don't work (I also use it on an old Hasselblad CX system which requires quite a long pin to trigger the shutter), some don't lock, some lock and won't release.  I just can't find one that works for me.  Some just don't screw in securely enough and fall off.

Can anyone recommend the best possible release cable because I am fed up buying ones that fail me within minutes of using them.

Thanks

My personally favorite is the one I have made by Ebony. I have seen them come up for sale now and then.

These are the best shutter release cables I know.
Gebrüder Schreck in Wetzlar, a german company who is
specialized in the production of cable release since 1922.

Thanks, I'll try these - although not speaking german I am not entirely sure what the various models do.  But I just need a pretty basic one.

Bloody Brexit - it seems that my shipping costs have risen by €7 since January 1st.  But their prices are pretty reasonable.

I recommend the most expensive one on the picture in the link.
It's worth it.
I think it's strange to use a 30 000.- $ camera with a cheap cable release.

No, the H6D release is a 2.5mm cable release like the Canon RS-60E3.

The cable releases discussed here are the physical, not electrical style.
