P6000: Printing Offset from Center - Right Side

I want to clarify what I thought was a scaling issue in my last post about my P6000.  This printer is not down scaling or something like that.  It's actually just printing offset from the right side (closest to the LCD controls). 

So lets so I'm making a 24x16" print with a 1/2" white border.  The print will come out with a (roughly) 1/4" border on the right and 3/4" border on the left.  I can work around this by wasting a lot of paper.  I just printed the 24x16 vertically and did some trimming, but this is not good long term. 

This happens regardless of software.  I ran a print head alignment auto program, and even that was roughly centered on the page so it seems capable of centering something, just not prints.  Though it's hard to be sure.

I would LOVE for this to be something I can fix myself.   The Epson service calls are expensive.  Plz help.  Send rum.  Fix printer.

So both of these use the Epson driver.  Can you post screen shots of the driver tabs to show your setup?

Those are the screens but they look vastly different to my SC 8000 on Windows.  Not sure why. 

I don't see anything obvious but the ideal gap between prints is something I've never seen.  Do you get this problem on single images as well or only when you gang prints as in the example of 2x2?

I had exactly the same problem with the SC-P5000.  I imagine the P6000 is very similar.  However I only print from Lightroom and haven't printed from Photoshop in years.  I am also on a Mac.  So this may or may not be of help to you.  But it may give you some ideas.  Also I seem to remember that using the Epson Print Layout application worked much better than printing through Lightroom.  So you might try that.

I had no problems printing cut sheets but when I used Roll Paper I couldn't get equal left and right margins.  I started a thread over on the Adobe Lightroom Forum and got some extremely helpful advice from someone called Mark Faber.  His suggestions worked for me.

My solution probably isn't applicable to Photoshop but in Lightroom I use the Borders setting and not the Borders - Auto Expand setting.  I then set my cell size (contains the image) to exactly the same size as the print I want to make.  I then click on the zoom to fill button.  Because the cell size is exactly the same size as the intended print size this doesn't alter the image at all.  I have no idea why but clicking on the zoom to fill button cures the unequal margins. Since this is easy for me to use on Lightroom I didn't try any of the other suggestions.

But if you read the thread you'll find some solutions that work.

I might try some of these things and apply them in Qimage.  Qimage is a good fit for my business at the moment, if I can get everything to work...

I found that LR printing was completely broken.  It just would not print successfully to my P6000.  I'm talking prints that would start and then just stop half way through.  It was very strange behavior so I abandoned it.

One of the problems is that much of my printing is based on my hard headed adherence to standard paper size.  I think this benefits my customers because framing is such a challenge when you offer 12x18, 13x19, 17x22 or other odd digital printing sizes.  Plus I'm printing almost exclusively from film scans, so I see a lot of different image ratios.  If someone is shooting a Rolleiflex, and orders an 8x10, well that generally means I'm making a 7x7" printed image floated into an 8x10 canvas and bottom weighted with a 2" border on top.  Or similarly a 4x5 image on 11x14 must be right sized in the canvas, or cropped to fit... Of course I do any size on request but these are my standard menu choices.

If anyone at Qimage is listening, I'd kill for drop in templates like this.  I just want to print as if I was printing in a darkroom.  You mask off areas of the paper so there are the proper edges and it fits within your planned mat.

I agree about templates in QI.  This is how I print with it and have maybe 20-30 that I use frequently or occasionally, so I rarely have to make a new one these days. 

I also tried the auto roll feature when it 1st became available and found it less flexible and more work to get what I wanted, although I think it was making borders when I didn't want them (or vice-versa) rather than printing to one side.

Have a look at Epson Print Layout.  I used it for a few prints and found it really very good. You should be able to set up templates to suit you.   However I have everything well set up in Lightroom and have never had any problems with printing from LR so haven't really bothered to look at it in detail.

Dunno if you have thought of this, but paper misalignment would explain this. If the paper goes in a bit off to one side it would explain everything.

That prompted another thought.  Most of the rolls that I have are not exactly 17 inches wide - they are about .12 inches wider - that can throw the margins off if you are setting things up for them to be exactly 17 inches wide.

You have borders on your images,  The only thing I saw that might be off is you have borderless roll checked and you are not printing borderless. Have you tried "roll paper" only?
