P900 stopped printing halfway through

Just set up an Epson P900, installed the latest printer driver, printer firmware and media profiles.
It is connected to a 2019 Mac Pro running Catalina 10.15.7.  It is connected to the computer with an active USB cable (25 ft long).  I have made a few 13x19 prints that printed all the way through, prior to updating the printer driver and printer firmware.  Today, after meticulously checking every setting 5 times on both Lightroom Classic and on the printer to make sure there were no mismatches in media type or size, I loaded a sheet of 13x19 Legacy Platine into the front feeder (as I have done before), and it started printing with no issue.  The colors popped and are near an exact match to my monitor, but the printer stopped printing halfway through the print.  Ink levels are all fine, maintenance tank is nearly empty, the print que is empty, indicating the job is completed.  The LCD screen indicates Lightroom, the name of the file, and "1 min".  Can anyone help diagnose what is happening?  Many thanks,

For anyone else who might have this issue, the fix was to increase the Lightroom cache from 5 to 15 GB, quit and restart Lightroom, power off the printer and restart it.  Now prints without issue.  Have no idea whether increasing the LR cache had any effect.

I also am surprised that cache size appears to have limited this print part way through.  I have known printers stop when (cached?) data has been temporarily exhausted but this has continued when the rest of the data has been sent/fetched?  Did you leave Lightroom before the print completed? 

This sounds like a data transmission problem where that transmission has been interrupted for reasons including that above but in all cases where I have not stupidly closed a program or left the source of that data it has continued after a pause.  Also I have never noticed any marks or evidence of these pauses?

Perhaps the Epson P900 can not accept much data and when printing something with complex/detailed settings it needs time to process before continuing - suugests an inadequate ram memory installed in the P900 - more evidence of Epson penny-pinching with build-quality and ink volumes?

I don't think that is the case.  I have made several detailed 17x22 color prints today without a hiccup, the printer seems to accept whatever type of file I send.  And the output is gorgeous.  Very happy with the P900 so far.

Hi Len,

The only thing I can offer relates to the USB cable itself.  As we know, there are times when cables actually do give up the battle for some unknown reason.  I would suggest that if this happens again you might want to shut down the printer and pull the USB cable.  Also pull the cable from the computer.  Check the end to make sure there's no dirt or anything else that could possibly cause an issue.  Do the same to the other end and then plug the cable to the computer and printer again and see if that has any positive result.  And of course as I mentioned, cables can also simply just give up the battle.  In that case, just try another cable.

It certainly is not that many years ago (around the introduction of usb 2) that I remember that some USB deices could be fussy about what quality of USB lead was used?  So there might be some mileage in the usb lead theory.

I also would be surprised if Epson has not installed enough local (in the printer itself) memory to accept large prints of high resolution.  However when the money (maximising) men make more decisions than the engineers you get pointless light (inadequate) build quality to save a £/$.  Many a superb product has suffered penny-pinching causing what for very little cost would premature failure.  I am just surprised that so many are reporting delivery damage which supports my theory here.
