p7570 sudden color issue?

Hi, on an Epson p7570 it has been printing great until suddenly today after a jammed cut sheet of canvas. I had to end up opening the front panel to remove the canvas cut sheet and while doing so (it did not take force) the printer head moved an inch or so to the left on its "track" as I pulled the canvas out. (the normal ways of having the printer eject the sheet on its own did not work).

Anyways, I had just printed a large canvas print prior to this and had wanted to load a cut sheet to refine the proofing some for the next large print. Well, I decided the way the first print came out was absolutely fine but when I printed the second one (after removing the canvas cut sheet) there is some unusual color "blotching" in parts of the first third of the image as it prints..... it almost looks like too much magenta in the blotches, which looks bad. This is about a 24 x 36" canvas print and the blotches are about 2-3' in diameter. It's like the printer didn't select the correct color in those areas because otherwise the tone and sharpness are fine.

I've tried to google this with no solid answers; ran the printer through it's head cleaning cycle; ran it through it's head "power clean" cycle; had a few inks that were indicating low so even changed those out before I had to; and also, of course rebooted my computer and the printer.

I'm not sure what happened when I removed that canvas sheet but I just need to know what I should do.

Any ideas, please?

I see you did the cleanings, but what of the Nozzle Test? Did it print cleanly will all lines visible?

There were a couple colors that did not have complete clean lines so I ran those another time and yes it now prints cleanly. I’m going to print some more test images to try and narrow down the problem. I wonder if removing the canvas sheet smeared ink (somehow) on the print head so I may do the manual cleaning of the head with the foam cleaning sticks per the manual. Sure hard to believe just removing  that sheet caused the issue and hope I get it back to printing the way it was. It printed superbly. Thanks for asking👍🏻

Well, I had it (I thought) fixed after multiple cleanings. I printed a full size sample of the first third of the large print and the colors were back to perfect. So then I proceed with printing the entire full size print and the color problem returns again?? Wth.... this makes no sense to me that it prints the one fine and then does not on the very next print.

I wish engineers and programmers would make it so these printers just do their job so I can get my work done. I'm wasting a lot of time baffled by what has caused this so any other suggestions would be appreciated.

It sounds to me like you jammed a sheet of canvas in there and the nozzles kept printing and spraying ink around at which time the bottom of the print head was smeared with ink. I’ve had that happen. It’s not a great idea to feed sheets of canvas because if it does jam it can bend the nozzles of the print head. These new Epsons also seem to have strict tolerances in regard to media thickness. 

If that’s not it call Epson.

So says the Marketing, it's suppose to be, ever so easy, to just give the bottom of the Printhead a wipe over, with the build in routine, that is suppose to give you access to the Bottom of the Head.

Sounds like using the swabs on the bottom of the Head would be the Ticket (the bottom and around the four edges)

Go to rolls if you can. Yes, use the on board cutter it works great. I have had the 7900, 9900, 9890 and P8000 and cut thousands of sheets of canvas off the roll.
My 2010 9900 is the only machine I replaced a cutter on.
Still runs like a charm and cuts canvas like a hot knife through butter.
Hopefully this issue solves itself on it's own.

Thanks everyone and I ended up having to call Epson and super impressed with their support. My goodness, I called Tuesday afternoon and a technician, and a delivery of parts for the repair, are both here at my home studio right now.

It appears removing the canvas "bumped" the print head so that likely will be replaced. Obviously it is very sensitive to being touched. Yes, I have learned not to remove anything in that manner again.

I hope I'm up and running again soon.
