HP Z 3200 banding problem

I am getting badnng about an inch in on thin roll paper Canon roll paper to be exact seems pretty curly. I have cleaned heads and aligned heads and claibrated advance still here. Is there a setting I am missing fo thin paper? thanks

Could be a long shot but on my Canon printer I got appalling banding on some papers if the printhead was set too high.
That's assuming you've used a solar curve to check the problem's not with the file.

Very curly paper will always be a problem- try to let it hang overnight to get it less curly .

(Never do any calibrations with curly paper, or the last on the roll)

Yes there are settings for thinner papers to be used as a preset for calibrating and making profiles. Check here: Paper Preset Chart

I would recommend you try  "Other Commercially Available Paper Types" (Table 3 at top):
Photo Gloss/Semi-Gloss/Satin Paper (less Ink) as your paper of choice preset.

First I would put a table in front of the printer and roll out a good length of your problematic paper, then de-curl it on the table. (Use "move Paper" to send it out and bring it back in). Let it hang down in the back, don't roll it back on the core.

Create a new paper based on the aforementioned preset, then calibrate, then do advance Paper calibration. At this point I make a custom profile.

I know this sounds like overkill, but after making the custom profile, I again calibrate, then advance calibration again.
Finally, do head alignment.

If you can print with the table in front of the printer (the printer will push the paper forward on the table) I think after following these steps, you might see an improvement more in line with what you are looking for.

Banding = uneven printing or do you mean a head touches the paper at that point?
