First two are jpegs. Last two are dngs.
Definitely a learning curve. DJI Mavric Mini 2.

Some 12 years ago i wanted a drone for photographing architecture, but they costed about 15.000€ and were not very sophisticated. Then i decided to put my money on a large 12m tripod- low tech, but able to shoot high res photographs. It was clear the drones would become cheaper and better; Now it is really amazing what you can buy for 1000 €. I am waiting for the dji mavic 3- also since januari there are new rules in the EU that DJI will keep in mind while developing it- i hope.

I can see how addictive it can be. Thinking of it as a 400 ft tripod, wish I could squeeze a little more resolution out of it though. DNGs are better than Jpegs of course, but have to be shot manually, which makes panos more difficult. However.......with a better camera on a bigger drone....... ;) ;) ;) Already prepping the wife!
Thanks, Bob; early days.

Pretty soon I'm going to be the only photographer left who only takes photos from six feet or less above the ground.   :(

I love what you droners are doing, but I would dread having to ask my neighbor to retrieve my drone from their bedroom.

I know what you're saying, Eric. There's an 80 year old lady neighbor next door that changes with the window open, but fortunately, she can't see so good :o so the drone is safe.
Also, they are hard to keep track of more than a hundred yards away so I've ordered a strobe that should help. If you are in familiar territory, you can navigate just fine by pointing the camera at the ground, but beware of trees and garage doors. I found out the hard way by snapping a bit of a prop in a collision, but the drone kept flying. It is reasonably resilient and remarkably easy to fly for a beginner. My only caveat is that I wish I could figure out how to enhance the capture files. Overall, the change in perspective is intriguing.

I hadn't realised you took that kind of photo, Eric. You've certainly not published any of them here!

That's just because I don't have a drone yet. So just in case I get one, best to keep your shades drawn at night.

Went back to the OOC DNG merge in LR and reworked for esthetics. FIRST though, I used Topaz Gigapixel to upscale 2x and made sure it got saved as a 16-bit TIF. The quality seemed much enhanced although I wish it would save as a raw file (ie, without rendering). Working on a TIF vs DNG in LR is a little different/trickier; less latitude it seems. Anyway, then on to PS for finalizing PP and sharpening. Chose a +/- monotone rendering in the end. Comments and suggestions greatly appreciated.

PS DJI cameras are now recognized in LR and EXIF data is available! This was 1/400 sec @f/2.8, ISO 100 saved as DNG and converted to TIF

Thank you, Eric, and the full size quality is really quite good. Maybe I will try a 16x24 print just to see.
