At first glance I thought the fulmar chick was just puzzled because he had expected to land in Goa after such a long flight, but this black sand didn't look like any description of Goa he had heard.
I've seen puffins taking off from high cliffs in a similar way. With their short, stubby wings one wonders how they can fly at all.

Eric, yes, puffins are clumsy flyers. But they can swim and dive very well.

Since puffins are such good swimmers, I always wonder how they manage to get airborne again after a swim.
