Ditto on part of that. It is hard to convey "primordial." I would say the image is so well done that its overall beauty causes us to overlook the death and skeletal remains of the crustacean. Although not a fossil, it does remind me of one and that is primordial to me.

I have to admit that this creature wouldn't meet the true definition of 'Primordial', but as John R has suggested my reference was to the fossil-like qualities of these ancient and beautiful creatures.

I take it you're referring to the size of the creature which is around 4 inches in length.

I used my trusty old Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/2.8 Ai-S - well, actually it's brand new as my old copy developed faults which were uneconomical to repair - on an Z7 with the FTZ adapter. The image needs to be seen full size to appreciate how good this comparatively ancient macro lens design really is: a true classic.
