Z3200 Printhead Replacement

I have a 24" Z3200 printer which has not been used for a while, and the black half of the black/red printhead is not printing. I have ordered two copies of the No.70 printhead (C9409A) but both show as faulty when I install them. The original head (the clogged one) is a No.73 (CD949A), and does not show a fault when installed.

Should I be using a No.73 printhead instead of the No.70?

yes you need the chrtomatic red head  HP 73 (CD949A) for the Z3200.
The red ink formula changed from z3100 to z3200 to have a better red gamut on matte papers.
You are not the first with this problem.

Yes! The 70 is only for the Z3100. You need the 73. This is a common mistake which after many years of using these I made myself recently. It will allow you to install it but it won’t recognize it.

You can send all the mistakenly bought HP 70 R-MK printheads to me - if not used...
