LR Printing Issue
« on: November 06, 2020, 04:58:12 pm »

I've updated to the new LR 10.0 and made some prints (I like to print through LR) but have run into a stumbling block. No matter which template I chose, standard or my own user defined, the rulers on top and bottom will only indicate 8.5 x 11 and will only print out what the image states. For example, one of my user defined templates is for a paper size of 9.5 x 13, the screen will only show the rulers to be 8.5 x 11 with the image at around 6.45 x 9.8. I've set the parameters within the printer dialog in LR and on the printer itself to 9.5 x 13 but it only prints out the image at 6.45 x 9.8. This is with a new P900. I did not have this issue with my previous 4800 or the P800. What could be causing LR to not indicate the template I chose?

Try recreating your presets.  I had an earlier version of LR wipe all my sizes in my presets, upon upgrade.  Had to remake them.   And, here’s a bug that is possible.  When you choose paper size it may revert to 8x10 when you click OK - but if go back into the driver settings again and re-choose your user-defined size again and it should stick.  A pain in the butt.  The driver for my 7570 has this same weirdness w/ user-defined sizes.

I'll go back and recreate the ones I created,  however it was the same when I selected any of the originally installed templates within LR. No matter which template that was selected, my custom template or the LR presets, the guides still read 8.5 x 11. Also, when I noticed this I went back into the setup dialog to verify what I selected within the printer set up within LR. Since I just added the P900 and downloaded the Epson Layout Program,  I wonder if this is a conflicting issue. I know that it is a plug in within PS, but us it also a plug in within LR? I'll have to check.

Starting from scratch with a new preset often fixes such issues.

But what about the templates that I didn't create. Like I stated, no matter which one I selected, mine or the ones that were already available within LR, the guides only showed 8.5 x 11? Do I need to recreate those as well?

Did you change the name of the printer? That is the only reason I know of that would give this behaviour.

I don't understand this. I did change from a P800 to a P900 this week but what has that to do the presets within LR? I made the 9.5 x 13 template when I had a 4800 and had no issue with it when I replaced it with the P800 in June.

Thats you problem. You will need rebuilt templates for a new printer. Templates store all print driver settings and more.

Ok, I've tried to rebuild these templates but HOW? I've clicked on the print module, clicked printer page setup, put in 9.5 x 13 (as an example), etc. and still the rulers will only show 8.5 x 11. I see in the print module under Custom Package I have 9.5 x 13 selected but the rulers still show 8.5 x 11. All the You Tube videos (are old) tend to show how to print multiple pics on a sheet and they always show how on an 8.5 x 11. When I click on HELP within LR and I ask how to create a paper size for print, again I see how to print multiple images on a single sheet. No matter what I try, the guide rulers will only show 8.5 x 11.

I just went through the above once again and manage to have the guide rulers correctly show 9.5 x 13 and made a print and the result was just what I originally wanted. But the question remains as to how to save this size (and any others I create) as a template. I did not see anything within the Print module to save or create this template. Is there somewhere else I should be looking to in order to save this as a template. In the printer page dialog box I created a user defined size and I saved it.  By the way, this is the latest v10.0 of LRcc.

A preset template saves everything, and I mean everything setup for both LR's settings and the print driver settings. It's why you can click on one and simply then click the Print button and everything is done as preset.
If you are using an Epson, NEVER pick a preset in the dropdown menu IN the driver; that's already in the template. It should always be Presets: Default Settings in the driver.
