Some web site (and I lost the link, sorry) said that Trump's sneakers have sold out and that some are already appearing on eBay at inflated prices. Production isn't slated to begin until June or July or something. Given the man's track record in entrepreneurship, I figure there's a better than even chance nobody will ever get a pair. Maybe that pillow guy Liddell will take up a bet with someone about it.

Speaking of Embryos, and the Alabama supreme court ruling did you see this genius response?

Hard to miss. It should probably appear in the humour thread. He was the guy who held up military promotions for obscure reasons, wasn't he?

I also really enjoyed that commentator on FOX (all over the web by now) who claimed that Trump's sneakers were a vote getter among African Americans because of their urban "sneaker culture". The best part about that video was the look on the face of the blonde interviewing him.

You almost have to admire the gall in this clip, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1hGH1GB_VY. And who knows, maybe she's right and they all DO want to pay the guy's fines for him.

They don't even bother coming up with good grifts anymore. Any crap will do.

Hard to believe any of this is real.

He is the one. He is a retired college football coach, never served in the military, voted against creating an independent commission to investigate the 2021 United States Capitol attack, said there was "no need for legislating on gay marriage", and yes, put the unnecessary hold on military nominations. Moron.

It's all just drunken bar talk now, all the time.

Meanwhile, important things are going on, like Ukraine for instance. What's the tribal thinking there, the "liberal elites" want to help Ukraine, so we're against it. Is that about the size of it? The US seems to have a multi-decade incoherent immigration policy leading to problems on the southern border and instead of trying to fix it, you have goofballs talking about bombing Mexico or incarcerating "illegals" and deporting them. Like the US doesn't already have enough people in prison!

No adult policy discussions, no public debate, just endless childish screaming matches conducted at the level of bar talk.

You know how people are afraid that AI will take over their jobs. Maybe we should welcome AI taking over political jobs because it's hard to see how it could do any worse that what you have now. Geez, you have religious crazies high up in the government who would welcome a theocracy because of some heretical interpretations of biblical writings. Sounds just like jihadists to me.

I was shocked to find out the other day that there are podcasters who maintain that Covid vaccines killed millions of people. That's National Enquirer nonsense. I wish they'd go back to alien abductions and "alien probes", at least that was funny.

Or punished people, and not the National Enquirer, Fox "News" nonsense.

Donald Trump made a bizarre gaffe during his Fox News town hall earlier this week. "We're going to take over Washington, D.C. We're going to federalize. We're going to have very powerful crime, and you're going to be proud of it again," the former president said.

Another week, another funding crisis. It's hard to take these seriously. If it keeps happening every few weeks, it's not correct to keep calling them crises, imo.  https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2024/02/28/congress/leaders-reach-spending-deal-00143849

I've been wondering something about those IVF labs in Alabama. I understand why they've stopped operating, the legal risks are too high to continue. But what about the long term. Will they have to keep the frozen embryos viable forever. What if there is a power failure and they thaw? What if they decide to close up shop, how do they shut down operations. I mean, oil and gas companies regularly shut down operations leaving well heads in fields rusting for decades. That's relatively easy to do, there's nothing to keep running. But if an IVF lab stops operating, they have freezers full of unborn human babies, according to the new Alabama law. What if they run out of money to pay the electricity bills? Will the state government take them over, use taxpayer money to keep the freezers going? They're going to have to figure out some kind of industry sunset procedure. Shadier labs will probably just shred the paperwork, zero out the hard drives and flush the thawed embryos. I mean, who'd know? Share prices in that industry must be hurting.

Which state will attempt to outlaw contraception first, do you think?

Behold the rise of the Christian Taliban https://www.npr.org/2024/02/29/1234843874/tracing-the-rise-of-christian-nationalism-from-trump-to-the-ala-supreme-court.

You can either listen to the 43 min podcast or read the transcript on the page. The interviewee is a former Christian Nationalist and spends some time talking about the history of the various movements and their beliefs. It's a bit mind-boggling.

Wow, just wow! Soiled carpet:

It's as if the thinking doesn't go any deeper than the slogan. It must be difficult for her to cope with reality, and it's almost a bit unfair to hold her up to public exposure.

I have seen bits of yt videos where one of Trump's lawyers makes a comment regarding Justice Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court. She says words to the effect that Trump fought for Kavanaugh's nomination so that he will "step up" to support Trump in whichever case she was being questioned about. She used the words "step up".

The assertion that there is such a quid pro quo strikes me as very wrong. If it were the case, wouldn't that put the USA squarely in third-world shit hole territory. It seems to me that there should be a lot more outrage about this than there seems to be. At the very least, Kavanaugh should at least pretend to be ticked off about it. After all, she just called him a crook. Or have we already reached the stage where everyone thinks this is ok now, that the Supreme Court is just another commodity you can buy and sell.

Another thought struck me. To my eyes, Trump's lawyers don't seem to be the cream of the crop but it occurred to me that there's no need to spend top dollar on lawyers if you already own the judge.

He doesn't own them IMHO and you get crappy lawyers when all the good ones will not work for you because you refuse to pay them.

I like how the right seems to be upset that their sleepy Joe narrative didn't apply here so now they are saying he was all amped up.

He wasn't? Even the ultra-left Washington Post suggested Biden be tested for drugs.

He was. It's just impossible to accept with feces covering your eyes and ears. Any
one here with open eyes and ears: below her kitchen counter, was Katie Britt barefoot (and pregnant)? ;D
