They are undeniably cute. To anyone in the UK, meerkats now have particular resonance, as part of an advertising campaign for a price comparison website that has been running for some years now. It's quite amusing: see

Meerkat ads cute. In the USA we've got a series running of ads with an emu for car insurance.
