It looks very good in a b&w conversion.

I'm with Rajan, Jeremy. It's power is in the graphics.

I'll probably agree, but I'd like to see your conversion first.
It's a fine image.

I like it as it is, but think it would be fun to see it processed as a b/w. Good shooting either way.

Very nice diagonals, they give a good rhythm. I'm sure that a B&W version is just as good.
Well seen, Jeremy.

Thanks as usual, all.

Normally with such a graphical image I'd be the first to try a monochrome conversion, and indeed I did on this occasion; but I couldn't get what I remembered, or what made me happy.

However, I've given it another go. Here's my second serious attempt, with a slightly looser crop.

Very good, Jeremy. And now the graphics jump out at you.

They do, Russ; but I'm going to stick with the colour version. The B&W, even gently toned, doesn't evoke memories of a beautiful city on a slightly chilly morning, gradually warming in the rising sun.

The colour version is gentler, but the B&W is more dramatic. I guess many of us who weren't there prefer the dramatic.

Not music with which I'm familiar. You'll have to enlighten me.

You'd probably know him by his more contemporary British name: Yusuf Islam.

You should be, however, familiar with his song (at least I am): Lady D'Arbanville: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZP54bClDRw

P.S. Nice picture, in either version :)

He was refused entry to the U.S. at one point, Jeremy. He was accused of being a terrorist. If that was correct, at least he was a pretty ineffective terrorist. The other Cat Stevens song you'll hear over and over is "Wild World." You've probably heard it.

As I am writing this, I am having lunch in a Belgrade restaurant... guess which music is on... My Lady D’Arbanville by Yusuf Islam! Speak of coincidences! :)

Ah. I wasn't aware that he'd sung it. I know the song, of course, which pre-dates the recording by some 40 years.

I really like this image and the pattern of light and shadow. I don't like the second rendition as it looks too HDRish to my eye. With first I would suggest to tone down the white light in the first three bars of light on the bottom right. But otherwise, A1.

A really good image which works both ways. My personal preference is for your colour processing.
