Exactly, Peter, and it's one thing that makes photography so challenging -- in a different way.

Thanks all. As Eric pointed out, this is a long way from the first time I've shot this scene or scenes very similar. I go out in the morning thinking "I've covered everything on this little stretch of the river. I might as well have left the camera behind." But the light keeps changing and new views keep appearing.

Peter, I think Russ has an app for his cell phone that lets him position the sun wherever he wants it, at whatever brightness level he chooses.   ;D
