Creating Custom Paper Sizes in Mac OSX and Epson Driver and Roll Paper

I am struggling a bit with a new SC-P5000.  Particularly in getting consistent margins as set up in Lightroom with Roll Paper.  In Lightroom I set up my margins to be identical as regards all borders - i.e. Left, Right, Top, Bottom all have the same margins - normally about .25 inches.

I have set up a custom page size of 17x23 inches - set all margins to zero.  However when I choose this in the page set up dialog and then go to the Print Settings dialog via Lightroom then in the Paper Source drop down menu I am offered the standard Epson paper sources for the printer - not my custom sized paper size.  I don't really understand the options offered but have tried them all and they all in one way or another mess up the margins set in Lightroom.  Either the top and bottom margins don't match or the left and right don't match (depending upon which paper source I choose).  Shouldn't the Paper Source dialog in Print Settings offer me my custom paper size, if that has been selected in Page Set Up,  and not just the standard Epson options?  I am on Mac OSX 10.14.6 and definitely have the most recent Epson driver installed.

Anybody able to shed any light on this?

Zoom to fill check - In the event your image is not exactly 16.5x22.5
Roll Paper- Borderless auto Expand. Since 17" is a borderless size. You can also try the standard roll setting but you need to keep the Zoom to fill checked.

I print from Photoshop, so maybe this won't help, but it could be the same issue. Earlier this year I posted this thread: https://forum.luminous-landscape.com/index.php?topic=133606.msg1147828#msg1147828 all about my problem not being able to print a custom size on roll paper, and, if you go to the last post, you'll find my solution, which was think like a coder and be very exact in the language and labelling you use for your custom size.

"Yes! I got it! I was thinking in the gym, maybe this is a language problem. Maybe, yeah, I'm being too cavalier in naming my custom template "roll" (duh). Maybe it needs a much more serious label, like one of the above mentioned preset templates in the various sizes. So, I changed the name of my 17x44 custom size to "17 x 44 in (Roll Paper)", thinking like a coder, making sure the spacing and caps were exactly the same as "17 x 22 in (Roll Paper)" which is a preset, and, as I said above, actually made the printer print. Ouila! My printer started up, and I now have a 17x44 print of an image that, quite frankly, shouldn't be so big. Maybe I'll drop this size down a notch or two. But, success! Thanks for witnessing my agony."

Thank you for that.  I think you've helped me to solve this problem.

I have tried most things you've suggested - including using Roll Paper- Borderless auto Expand.  That worked a bit better, but I have used up the best part of an entire 17 inch roll trying to sort this out.  The one thing I hadn't thought about was the Zoom to Fill box in LR.  I must have printed thousands of images in LR over the years without problems on Epson printers but without ever using that box.  Normally I have one Print Template for each paper and each size.  I set the width in the cell but don't usually bother with the height - just make sure the cell height is bigger than the image - so that the whole image is included in the cell.

Not having anything better to do I went back and printed an image with the same cell width but this time adjusted the height of the cell to match the image size and then checked the Zoom to Fill box.  I cannot understand what this did but all my borders are now uniform and as I had set up in Lightroom.  I guess that now I am going to have to go back and create Print Templates not only for all papers and sizes but also for the format of my cameras - I have some cameras that shoot 3:2 aspect ratio and some 4:3.  I suppose that now I am going to have to create templates to take into account the aspect ratio of the image.

So thanks a lot for the suggestions.
