Canon Pro1000 or Canon Pro2100

I am debating. I would use the 24" size occasionally. I could just outsource those prints. It looks like the 2100 is a little less expensive to operate. I am concerned Canon will be updating the Pro1000. I have a 13 inch Canon now and always wish it could print larger. Anyone have any thoughts or regrets?

The advantages of the 24" model are built-in roll holder and paper cutter, cheaper ink and the ability to print decent sized canvases. The disadvantages are larger space requirements and having to feed cut sheets in one at a time.

Also the PRO-2100 has an obligatory margin (I think is 12,7 mm) when printing sheets. PRO-1000 can print sheets almost to the edges or borderless to standard sizes.

Definitely not a Canon Imageprograf Pro 1000!!!

It has a known design fault which in my case wrote off my printer to the scrap heap in less than 2 years light use!  I cannot speak for the 2000 but the 1000 eats ink and you need to NOT turn it off and print at least less than 60 hours else the printer will trigger a maintenance clean which will dump a lot of your ink into the maintenance cartridge!   

This 60 hour limit is documented well on the internet.

I was vaguely considering the Pro-1000 until I read the specs, which indicated the maximum print length was 25.5".  No thanks. I often printed to 34" on my old 3880. I recently replaced it with a new P800 that I located after some sleuthing. It'll print to ten feet with the roll paper holder. Unless you want the 24" inch option—yah, it occupies a lot of real estate—I'd go with a new or used P800. The small cartridges on the P900 didn't appeal to me.

The maximum print length for the PRO-1000 was increased to 120cm (47,24 inches) 11 months ago. The change was part of firmware version 3.01.

I was wondering if the length specs had changed. It's odd that the change hasn't been updated on the Canon website.
