Blue cast on Broncolor Pulso

Hi,
I have few Broncolor lights and one Pulso 2 has a distinct blue cast. I suspect that I need a new tube but before ordering a new one at a fair cost I just wanted to check if there was any other reason for this.
The cast does not occur on other lights using the same pack settings.

Yes it does. I only have one glass protector and it is clear.
I was planning to buy at least two more when I ordered the tube from France.

I need to go back now and test them with and without protective glass.

What difference is expected in colour between the clear and colour corrected protective glass please?

So I went back and tested both lights with bare bulb, clear dome and colour corrected dome and they were basically the same.
I did have a colour corrected dome but it was broken and held together with glue.
I must of had either no dome or clear dome on the one that was blue and the corrected dome on the other.

The big thing is that you have saved me about 300 Euro so thanks heaps.
I now need to get more colour corrected protectors I think.

Flash tubes (at least the ones we´re talking about here) are made of quartz glass, which does not shield UV light. Be aware that Xenon light also emmits a significant amount of UV so you better don´t use bare uncoated tubes without a protecting dome. When ordering new domes you may get the ones with a metal ring, they are less prone to break. Cheers!

Thanks. That explains a lot with the UV.
I just checked the Phoxene site and they have the metal bands.
They have colour corrected frosted and non frosted.
I am guessing that frosted is better for diffusion though it may block some light.
They are a couple more Euro but any other reason to not get frosted colour corrected, please?

The difference is probably less significant than one might expect. The modelling light is a bit softer as it diffuses the point source of the bulb. I use both types, the frosted one is a tad less harsh, the clear one is the one you want when creating sharp shadows with an open head turned 90 degrees from the subject.

I will order two frosted ones so I have matched pair and keep the clear one I have for sharper light.

With some difficulty I bought two frosted colour corrected domes.
The price from France would have been cheaper but the postage was very high, so I bought them locally in Australia.
Results attached. These make the head colour much better and the colour variation less.
There was 1200K difference to the bare bulbs.

Well, probably, but you will have a Godox system. (:-)

I have heard some good things about Godox, but I bought some Godox modifiers and was not impressed by them.
I am not aware that Godox make any head and pack systems, anyway. For product photography you need lots of power, as you are shooting at f18.
I don't often use full power, but knowing it is built to deliver 1600 or 3200W makes it very reliable.

I guess tell me in twenty years how good your Godox system is, as I have heard of failures in a couple.
