Q for Cambo Actus/Ultima Fuji 50r + Actus 24/3.5
« on: July 25, 2020, 02:58:41 pm »

Does anyone know if a Cambo Actus/Ultima Fuji 50r + Actus 24/3.5 will make infinity and if so will there be enough movements left to justify that particular technical camera approach? I am concerned that the FFD of the 50r might not be shallow enough.

If anyone has experience with other lenses for that tech camera combo on the wide to normal side, I would be interested.

I don't have an Actus but as far as i know the Actar 24mm was specifically made for it, so no issues with the 50R.

An article from a quick google search (it is the 50S but the same should apply to the 50R)

The core design of the Ultima looks similar to the Actus, looks like maybe you need the upgrade kit to use the 24mm Actar on it...

Thank you.. .the Actar 24.3.5 comes with a lens board that will fit the Ultima unless there is something I am missing and the Ultima I have has a Fugi G-mount. And thank you for the web article. I guess the remaining question is the optical performance of the lens and how much movement is supported by the 24/3.5 image circle (60mm) at infinity with the 50r.

Bob, it definitley reaches, no flange distance issue. Performance and coverage-wise, it will be similar to the Canon 24mm/3.5 II TSE Lens (if it is a good copy). If someone already owns a Canon 24mm II TSE, probably best to get the Canon EF Controller. If not, then you can save about $1,600 by going the way of the Actar. An argument could be made either way, for example, if you would plan on using additional Canon lenses, the EF Controller would be an expanded asset to own.

thank you Steve!... I may give you a call to discuss other lenses such as the Rodenstock Sinaron Digital HR 35/4 or similar as well.

Ok, but 35 HR on GFX 50 is going to be a no go. For those type of lenses, you're starting in the 55mm range and longer.
