New Local Adjustment Tool
« on: June 16, 2020, 06:35:21 pm »

I've been playing around with Lightroom's new local adjustment tool for hue.  Very interesting―and the implementation is sensible and quite intuitive.  I especially appreciate the Use Fine Adjustment capability for mediating the effect of the slider; I can imagine this approach being ported to other LR adjustments.

I don't see myself using this tool very often, but I imagine it will be very helpful in resolving some specific issues I sometimes encounter, such as adjusting parts of an image for ambient lighting with different color temperatures, as often occurs during outdoor nighttime shots.  Greg Zulke of Adobe has provided a useful explanation and tutorial here.

Chris, thanks for sharing! This Lr update is very good. Everything works smoothly. Or this is only my impression? :)

It would be pretty nice if all of the sliders had a fine adjustment mode.  It is so easy to implement, especially as a keyboard shortcut/modifier.

Don't the cursor keys do that?

No.  Invoke the adjustment brush, try out the default behavior of the new hue slider, then click on Fine Adjustment to see how it modifies the way the slider works.
