Epson 9890 and banding (no clogged nozzles)
« on: April 29, 2020, 05:47:05 pm »

I have an Epson 9890 that has recently been banding in the magenta of an image. (see attache images). There are absolutely no clogged nozzles when I perform a nozzle check (see image). I can changed the resolution (720, 1440, or 2880) turn off/on the microweave and/or high speed and tried changing the paper type. Nothing changes the banding I'm seeing. I have also tried auto alignment, but noting changes. Has anyone seen this before and have any suggestions? I was having a nozzle clogging issue, until I did a service mode SS cleaning of the head.

Unfortunately, it looks similar to my 9900 head right before it failed. A big clue is if you see curved or bent lines in the nozzle check.

I had my P9000 fail two weeks ago with a similar problem. The nozzle check on this 9890 is not bent, but the alignment shows it moving from side to side. Two of my newest Epson printers bite the dust with-in two weeks of each other.

How old was your 9000 and how much use did it have?

My P9000 was 15 months old with less than average use, not our production machine.

Thanks. I doesn't look like Epson has solved their head problems yet.
