Abode
« on: April 27, 2020, 06:04:39 pm »

The first thing I thought when I saw this place is that there's certainly some vacant land over there on that hill a little past it... I wonder if they wouldn't mind having a neighbor that could also appreciate this place as much as they do? Then I seriously thought about what living here would look like in the arctic. This place is spectacular, remote yet accessible, and easily has one of the best views I've seen, in the world. All of those windows on the right of the house are perfectly aligned north to watch the northern lights dancing over the mountains... I'm guessing they can see it from their bed. Can you imagine wearing an eye mask to sleep because the Aurora is too bright again?!

Wow another great shot and well-chosen viewpoint.  Could the sunlit snow be darkened a bit without turning to gray?

I'm not sure how it would turn to gray. When you darken the sunlit snow it tends to look over-saturated. So I could decrease the saturation, but if you darken the snow, the light reflecting off the ice in the foreground doesn't make sense...

Very nice! I would leave the snow as it is. I love the foreground ice. Where is this (I don't need the exact location, just the general area)?

Thanks, looks very nice, however our definition of "accessible" is quite different.

Great view and the foreground ice with the air bubbles in it would even make a good shot on its own.

I have an abstract of this that I love. It does look brilliant, I completely agree.

Well, let's see, it was (3) planes, 1 ferry boat, then a rental car, another ferry boat, then some snow shoes... after spending the night in -4 degree rental car. Oh did I mention the 4 feet of fresh snow they got, so driving the rental car felt more like a bobsled than an actual car, but studded tires are just amazing I've discovered. Also the locals drive insane!

Yep, as I expected. I don't see myself going through this lengths anytime soon although for the right place I might try. I see from this and others that you are much more willing to go the significant complications to reach this beautiful places. At least I get to see them this way.
