Help with Printing BIG

Guys

I want to print this image 32 inches x 44 inches using my Epson P800. Obviously I cant do that because the max size for that printer is A2 so my plan is to make 4 prints and join them together making one large print. My question is this. I have never done this before so want to know if I would be better off leaving say a 10mm gap all the way around to make it obvious that its 4 prints joined together or should I try and butt them up together. Like I said I have never done this before so looking for advise and any help possible.

I plan yo use PScc and a roll of 16 inch Premium Luster or my other option would be 4 or 6 A3+ sheets of Epson canvas Hot Press

Probably not what you want to hear but if it were me I would have the image printed as one whole even if you have to send it out to another lab. But if determined to do so then 4 separated prints would be easier IMHO than trying to seem them together which will show no matter what you do.

I often print four A2s and tape them together to make a single large print, but only as an intermediary stage before ordering the final large print from a lab.

Not going to look acceptable as 4 prints. The time and materials to do yourself for a less than perfect job you might as well farm it out. It is only a $75 print job.
You could tile it in perfect resize with 1/2" overlay then print it on photoTex and adhere it directly to a wall. You could adhere it to a substrate and then frame it as another option.
You don't have to tile it as 4 prints you can do 2-16"X44".

I like the image. I'd consider doing it as 4 unequal size prints with a minimal strip of space between. Say a square tile in the upper left and lower right corner and rectangles in the lower left and upper right corners.

I would do a test to see if you like it (and how to arrange it). 

Print out the full image, (but only 17") then cut it into 4 and start arranging them, butted up, separated etc.  Play until you either find an arrangement you like or can it and get a single print made somewhere as suggested.

I would definitely leave a gap if I were doing it.

here is a template of how i am going to mount it. There is a small issue whereby when PScc sliced the original image into 4 (I assume PScc does that presis) somewhere along the line I managed to screw that up and 2 of the slices are 3mm narrower and unfortunately one of them is the right hand side where the baby elephant tail is. I think I can still mount it and still have about 5mm between the tail and the border to show some separation if not then I don't think I will proceed with it.
I will hopefully find out later today when I go to the framing shop

On another note I really enjoyed my day yesterday messing around with this, learning new stuff in PPcc and enjoying a challenge ........ Here in Thailand we are like everywhere else in the world on a lockdown due to the COVID 19 viros so having wee jobs like this to do helps pass the boredom

That actually looks pretty darn good.
 I was thinking you were going to glue them together to look like one print.
Printed like that and mounted to gatorboard or dibond you will have a nice presentation.

Yes I like that.  I would not have thought to use black as the borders.  I think that makes it for me ...

Take the part of the image out tat would be present in the gap and you won’t have that discontinuity.
