I am sure you were not expecting that response, but anyway. With the exception of the Titanic example, which was immediate, all of those fall into the hindsight fallacy. It is impossible to foresee a disaster since there are typically dozens of others you are paying attention to at the same time.
It is just not possible to avoid all disasters because not only would it be too expensive, but there are not enough hours in the day to do so. Not to mention, imagine how boring life would be if we always listened to the experts' warnings, like always wearing a helmet when you leave the house and go for a run.
So you pick your priorities, which means inevitably something you were not expecting comes through.
Out of curiosity, are you a prepper? Because he is kind of saying with his 4th or 5th example that we should all be preppers. Dont get me wrong, I would love to have a real root cellar, mainly because it is the perfect enviroment to age cheese, but I just cant afford to build one nor have the property to do so. But do you store large quantities of food just incase there is a long term blackout? If not, why are you not heeding his warnings?
