As people who regularly read this thread know, my attitude toward Trump approximates hate. I think he is a criminal, quite likely a traitor, and certainly mentally ill. He is is every way unfit to be President.
But here is a pro-Trump argument. It is my belief that American governments at every level are dysfunctional, ranging from simply incompetent to actively criminal. Trump told voters that he would get rid of those people, characterized by the Clintons. Middle class Americans can no longer really afford medical care, can't afford to send their kids to college, can't count on honorable treatment by their employers, who will throw them under the bus as quickly as they find they can make a bigger buck in Mexico. These people were the perfect chumps to be played by a vicious conman like Trump, and enough voted for him to get him elected. Why? Because they didn't know him as well as they knew Hillary Clinton, the near-ultimate insider, who, after a lifetime of being driven around in government limosines, wound up very, very rich while average Americans watched their lives rot around them. I mean, we have top government elective jobs held by people like Mitch McConnell and Nancy Pelosi, who are interested in nothing but power, we have southern states led by open racists and northern states that are fundamentally bankrupt because of corrupt deals made by the "leadership." I think many people voted for Trump hoping against hope for change; instead, they got the Mafia. We've got to get rid of Trump, but one of the bitterest pills would be a triumphant Pelosi or Schumer.
