Or more likely access to adequate health care. We know the virus runs havoc on people with existing health conditions...maybe the lack of health care for these poor is why they are disproportionally affected by the virus.

There has been reports out that claim the majority of the spread of the virus is through the air, not through contact with objects...so I don't see hygiene being a huge factor why the poor get affected more by the virus.

That's all quite possible as well (lack of health care). But to this day, WHO and many other institutions claim that hand washing and distancing are the most effective ways to prevent the spread. People in poor areas do not have the luxury of keeping the distance in overcrowded apartments, with sometimes three generations under the same roof. Also, take into account the hand shake after someone sneezed or coughed into their hand instead of the elbow.

Thanks for that. Now, I know.

Unfortunately, that list arrives about three decades too late.

Just came across this article about health care workers being threatened and fired, https://this.kiji.is/644147780353213537?c=592622757532812385&fbclid=IwAR1mdsaQ3FdUaIZVGgvL7OF3Gh5rsT5VtX3zuPmAC1zW_W3GZDTLPl01qKM.

The tail doesn't wag the dog.  This Health Commissioner is an unelected official of government as are others.  They don't report to the people.  They're appointed.  The mayor and other elected officials who make the rules are responding to the voters. That's the way it works in a democracy.

So they fire people for doing their job? You think that's ok?

Doing your job and following orders is what it means to work for someone.  Do you ignore what your boss tells you to do?  One of the reasons I started my own business is so I could be boss.

Working for the government is a political position.  Either you're elected and work at the voters grace.  Or you're an appointed government employee and work for the elected officials. Either way, you have to respond to the voters.  The voters didn't like this health commissioner's rules she wanted to enforce.  She's not elected. So she either goes along or resigns.  She can't have it both ways.  She's not entitled to override her boss. Let her start her own business.

Not encouraging signs, https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/502792-surging-coronavirus-cases-raise-fears-of-new-lockdowns, No. of cases going up rapidly. Maybe too many people are interpreting "re-opening" as back to normal.

It seems to be traveling mainly west.  NY, NJ and the East got hit first.  Now it's hitting the western and southern states. I think the virus just has to go through the population and burn itself out. Let's hope it ends during the summer and doesn't come back in the fall in a different strain.

It doesn't burn itself out without the help of humans. The more humans closely interact with each other...the more the virus will leap into another host.

Early test results show only a few Minnesota protesters got coronavirus.   Minnesota cases fall overall.

Most protesters I saw wore masks which helps prevent the spread in you can't distance yourself. It's the pool party idiots that had zero masks and we're just getting wasted that are a bigger danger.

A friend of mine just got back from 4 months in Thailand and she said everyone wore masks...period. Take a look at Thailands Covid cases...pretty impressive.

Well, if the protesters can't infect you, neither can your doctor or barber. But here, under the incompetent and CYA authorities, they are still closed down.

I think the people in the US are just brushing that aside.
On this forum about a 100 pages back they said it wasn't serious as deaths per million were low compared to other countries.
Well guess what. Deaths per million in the US are now 357. Passed only by about 6 countries in densely populated Europe.
However the European countries all have deaths per day now below 100 and the US is currently 400 deaths per day with 20,000 new cases a day.
It won't go away until you make it go away.

Really? In BC doctors, dentists and barbers are all open for business.

Not much to brush aside. It is barely in the news. Coverage has shifted to the George Floyd killing, the protests and the latest killing in Georgia.

Hope has nothing to do with it, and it is a really poor strategy. This is not rocket science - the virus will spread in large non-immune crowds, like the ones from recent USA and European protests.

In Portugal, we are having an average of 300 new cases a day, 90% of them in the greater Lisbon area. Most new cases are not "bad" as the infected people are younger between 20 - 40 years old. This was expected, and it is being controlled by intensive tracing and testing of infectees and their contacts. We have now done 1 million tests, which puts us in the top in terms of tests per capita.

In Ontario, dentists opened about 2 weeks ago, and also some chiropractors, but not the doctors, physiotherapists, osteopaths and other health practitioners. Barbers will be opening soon.

I think that restrictions remain tighter in the Toronto area. In Eastern Ontario, barbers and hairdressers are already open. Not sure about the rest.

Trump knows how to decrease the number of new cases, https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/502819-trump-on-coronavirus-if-we-stop-testing-right-now-wed-have-very-few-cases, just stop testing!  :)

Strictly speaking, it's true, sort of, in the "Bizarro" world anyway.
