He won't, he can't.
Trump's exact words:
"Republicans feel that Social Media Platforms totally silence conservatives voices. We will strongly regulate, or close them down, before we can ever allow this to happen."
Some context. Over the weekend, (couched within petty personal insults, of course) Trump, on Twitter, essentially insinuated that MSNBC host Joe Scarborough might have had something do with the murder of a young woman 16 years ago. The woman's widower wrote to Twitter and asked them to delete the tweet, which Twitter did NOT do. What Twitter did instead was note that Trumps accusation was, er, questionable. That resulted in the statement above.
This is counter to everything that the right claims they adore about Trump. His supposed dedication to their freedoms and appreciation for individual liberty. Their support of
Citizens United (the case that established that corporations, like Twitter, are essentially unique individuals with freedom of speech rights), the accusation that Liberals are keen to regulate speech and outlaw certain points of view.
Here we have, directly and publicly, the President of the United States saying that a private entity should be regulated or silenced into quieting its disagreement with him, directly infringing on the most important right - freedom of speech.
Looking forward to the pretzels Trumpers will tie themselves into brushing this off.
