Taiwan is an island country. They also had experience I believe with SARS and other viruses.  But all this "mine is bigger than yours" is just silly at this point.  It proves nothing.  If those that remain opened develop herd immunity, they will be resistant to future attacks.  Those that locked down early, may get the worst of it during a second wave.  It's good that different areas treated it differently.  We'll be able to know which methods works best.  Arguing about it now is like picking a horse in the middle of the race.

Besides that it is comparing apples with pears in many ways... then we also have statistics that are not based on the right numbers...

More to the point is Equador, Brazil and Russia; where things get out of hand and the government is doing a very bad job, neglecting the problem too long and trying to calm down the people with false stats.

How is it false?  Both Drs. Fauci and Birx said it's possible to have a vaccine by the end of the year in the very same article you referenced.  You're so confused by CNN and MSNBC you don;t even bother to read the very thing that refutes you position that you use as "evidence" Trump is lying. Just, who is doing the lying?  If they get close, Trump will push everyone to get it done.  Just like he id years ago with the NYC Central Park ice skating rink.  Just like he did with forcing manufacturers to make ventilators and other PPE.  Do you think sleepy ZJoe would be better at getting things done?

Unfortunately, this is an election year.  Here, of course.  So Trump needs Americans to have their ire up against China.  It gives him an easy target for problems here that he'll get blamed for.  I'm not saying China doesn't deserve the accusations.  It's just that you have to be careful it doesn't escalate into something really dangerous like the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Larger number is based on realtime-ish reporting.  Smaller number is based on official death certification, and lags.
