This SARS-CoV-2 is a RNA virus. All RNA viruses mutate, some more than others. It's not secret this one did too, the question is what it mutates, how often and if there are key portions that are stable and can be targeted with vaccines. But you don't actually care about this, only to say it's just as flu. Spanish flu was just a flu, right?
