Well, I will say this.  He never was a Republican.  He believes in debt, runs his life and business on debt, and now has indebted the American people to another $5-6 trillion on top of the $1 trillion before the virus just this year.  Problem is, none of the republicans in Congress are republicans any more.  They all joined the Democrats and are all camped in the Sanders party.  By the time the printing presses run out of green ink, there won't be enough cheese left for a mouse to get a tooth in.

The total US National Debt is currently over $24.5 trillion, isn't it? That's 114.32% of GDP.
https://www.usdebtclock.org/

It seems reasonable to presume that the debt will continue to escalate as a result of this Covid epidemic. By how much, is pure speculation, but again it is reasonable to presume that the escalation will be very significant.

This could be the point, within the next 2 or 3 years, when China replaces the US as the largest and most powerful economy in the world.

Hey, my key board is going to shit on my laptop.  It has been, more and more frequently, typing the same character twice with a single punch, especially the space bar.  I would get it replaced, but we're under this stupid thhing called quarantine.

Doctor on another forum mentioned there may be 30 different strains now.  He posted this study.

Patient-derived mutations impact pathogenicity of SARS-CoV-2

So yeah, this could just end up becoming like the flu.  Isn't that great.

Oh, so this expert you believe?

But in answer, YES, that would be great. That's one of the things we hope for, that new mutations of a pathogen become less virulent (which is the usual case). That would be terrific and the quicker it happens the better.

Curious how some viruses mutate often and others don't. I haven't heard about this one mutating yet. It's a bit odd that we haven't heard it before from other researchers. It can't be secret knowledge; if it's true, it must be known in research circles. We'll see soon enough.

I give him much more credit then some of our, cough cough, medical experts here.  He is an MD in the NYC area, right in the thick of it, not engaging is pointless banter on an internet forum, so ...

It's not incoherent to Michiganers.  This is election season.  Trump needs Michigan to win the election.  If the governor screws up the economy of Michigan prior to the election, a likely event regardless of what she does, Trump will say that he told them that would happen.  Better yet, if Biden picks the Democrat governor as his VP running mate, a possibility at this point, Trump will be in an even stronger position to damage Biden's chance of winning Michigan and other nearby contested states.

Your problem is you're not an American.  Trying to decipher our politics from 10,000 miles away isn't easy.  You ought to be more humble about it.  Maybe you should ask, why did Trump do this or do that rather than assuming he's incoherent because you don't understand.  Trump didn't become president because he's a dope.

So here's Trump politicking rather than dealing with the two crisises at hand.,yep, I'd rather have my leader selfishly focussed on getting relented rather than focusing on the virus and the economy. I think he should take a week off and head to his courses where he does his real critical thinking. Glad you approve of such a buffoon.

And how are the Dems any different?

Pelosi held up small business relief for over a week over politics.

Not saying they are better...just that the commander in chief is not commanding, but more focussed on November. Maybe there are a couple of big issues at hand that could use some attention...

Aw, come on.  It's your "covfefe" moment. Lean into it, and stop talking down to people so much - glass houses and all that.  'Cause this excuse is BS and you know it (though the double-h is a nice, if transparent, touch).

Hell, I thought "Banksy" was "Bansky" for years, and I still have to check myself on "separate."  (And God help me when I need to choose between "effect" and "affect" :). )

That goes without saying. A bunch of guys on the internet are just a bunch of guys on the internet. Except they're not giving you THEIR opinion, are they? They're giving us the opinion of experts in the field that they have read. You seem to only believe the "experts" whose opinion matches yours. But your opinion (and mine) are beside the point, aren't they.

This paper's viewpoint is as valid as replication by others will show. Fingers are crossed but we will only know when we know.

114% of GDP is based on the current GDP.  It's estimated that the GDP will go down around 25% due to the virus so the percentage is actually much larger and worse.  I think that something smells about this whole thing that China may have planned this.  On the other hand, a damaged world economy doesn't help China either as they'll lose their customers.  Maybe they don't care.  Maybe they just want to be #1.  Problem is their politics and international strategic plans are dangerous to Australia and other Pacific countries in particular.  They're using this virus as cover for expanding again in the South China Sea.  A little unrelated, but does anyone think China will comply with the Paris Accord in 2030 as they promised?  China's going to make Imperial Japan in the 1930's and 1940's seem like lightweights.

Unfortunately, all the politicians are politicking.  It's election season.  You don't think Gov Cuomo of NY isn't politicking?  He wants to be president so bad, he's been running for it for years.  His news conferences are just a continuation of it. The Democrats are trying to use it to retake the Senate and win the presidency and Trump is trying to hold on.  At least my president isn't a racist like yours.

Typical jerk response, republican jerk I would add. Can't win an argument so he goes on personal attacks. On top of that he throws some distractions hoping he hides his ignorance in the noise. You just lost any moral ground that you thought you had.

First, I'm still waiting on your great "converse, inverse and contrapositive" interpretations, so far has been crickets about it despite wasting an entire page of replies on it. Oh, you were engaged in pointless banter.

Second, my credentials are fortunately not for you to judge, I might not be an expert in much but on my job I'm quite good and I have no problem discussing in more details. Thing is you are not that person to question my credentials..

Third, and this is the distraction, you throw this study as if there is any opposition between that article and what I'm saying. Newsflash, you don't know what you are talking about. This SARS-CoV-2 is a RNA virus. All RNA viruses mutate, some more than others. It's not secret this one did too, the question is what it mutates, how often and if there are key portions that are stable and can be targeted with vaccines. But you don't actually care about this, only to say it's just as flu. Spanish flu was just a flu, right?

Actually, that's suppose to happen in a Democracy.  When a politician is looking at elections, what he or she is doing is checking what the people, the voters, want from their leaders. What's the point voting for someone who then does everything opposite you expected from them when you voted for them?
