To some degree. Most of Reagan's, Clinton's and even Bush's speeches were well written, sounded upbeat and were a pleasure to watch, but sadly Trump raised lowered them to a new level.
Trump is the anti-politician.  That's his whole schtick.

Piers Morgan, a close friend of Trump?  How much have you been smoking since being in lock down Bernard.  I suppose you're going to insist Brian Stelter is a fair journalist too.  Perhaps when he is not missing deadlines by crying himself to sleep.

You're really clutching at straws here.  It is nice to see you are finally starting to realize that the governors are the ones who were in charge of shutting down and opening up.  Not quite there yet, but you are starting to come to grips with how federalism works.

Because you obviously know who is and who isn't a close friend of Trump. ;)

My view on the role of governors has been very consistent. Yes, they obviously have an important responsibility, but no where near as important as that of the President. Trump has told us a few days ago that he has total power. So he is probably more confused than I am about the US constitution...  ;D

Trump went on yesterday and pretty much said in the same sentence that the federal gov is in charge of testing... but then isn't.  There were some smileys here then I realized how dramatic this pathetic form of governance is.

I can't be sorry enough for all the people who are suffering from his mediocrity.

Cheers,
Bernard

Is this 2008 all over again?  What about cars loans/leases and credits cards?  The money the government is giving to individuals are for going to help banks.  So instead of bailing them out directly like they were in 2008, and everyone complaining about it, they'll give money to individuals to pay the banks.  Of course they won't pay their bills because they'll use the money for food.  So the government will have to bail out the banks - Too big to fail.  Again. I wonder if there are credit swaps in the mix again?

3 million Americans are not paying their mortgages right now

He changed his mind when he realized that letting the governors take command of reopening their states, they will get all the blame for a screwed up economy while he can take the high ground. In any case, it really is the governor's responsibility.  After all, it was governors and mayors who shut down different things.  The "park closed" signs were installed by the mayor's police force not the federal government.   It's the mayor of NYC who refuses to shut down the subways.  So he'll get blamed for circulating the virus.  It's State governors, mayors and other local officials who control these things, not the president of the USA.  He's done his job by providing all the PPE and hospitals add ons and military hospitals, ships and additional doctors to help out the states.  He also provides the CDC and other tests and PPE materials. He also with congress is providing federal economic assistance to people, hospitals , etc.  But the states have to use their personnel to do the testing,  That's their job.

And most importantly, it's the governors that will decide when to open their states.

I’ll give you that.  Compared to Biden though ...

Fascism in action:

Good thing they let criminals out of jail, so plenty of room for those not wearing masks.

That is hilarious, but to laugh would be politically incorrect.

Good thing, Les, is that there is plenty of stuff to laugh about in this crisis.

Another example of the media going out of their way to make those deplorables common folk look bad.

Here's what Jacksonville Beach looked like during partial 'reopening' Friday

Turns out a lot of the news stories were using older stock photos.

Just so that people understand how fake news is made, and how panic porn is made, here is the fake photo the media was using:

In what way is it fake?

It is a stock photo, taken who knows when.

If you click on Joe's link, the first paragraph is:

Quote
Jacksonville made national headlines Friday for the partial reopening of beaches. Unfortunately, many of those reports carried old photos and videos of crowded beaches causing many in the U.S. to ask, 'what's going on down there?' Here's drone video of what Jacksonville Beach looked like Friday evening.

You then can watch a drone video what that particular beach looked like on the same day.

Proof?

This discussion doesn't prove they're not fake, but I think the onus is on you to prove that they are:

The only "proof" Snopes has is this:

Here are those photographs and their accompanying captions, as stored in the database of the Getty Images visual media company:

Apparently, that's what the database shows. For which we have to trust Snopes and Getty Images.

Given that the same photo is used for beaches in CA, it raises a reasonable doubt.

So Joe, Slob and Alan, are you a bunch of cupcakes that sit on the net all day and complain about your rights, or do you actually have some balls and go out and join your Covidiots and protest. Here are a couple of your friends.

It's pretty obvious if you look at the video of the same exact beach that photo is suppose to be from.

It is an older stock photograph, not an image captured this past Friday.

Here you go.  In the post below a local pointed out that the pier in the image used in the news stories no longer exists (in the size shown) due to recent hurricanes.  Oops.
