China cares about nobody except China.  They're paying off African leaders to get their minerals and other resources.  Africa will be indebted to them for the next 100 years like the European colonialists of the past.

Come on Alan...do you really not think the US does not payoff foreign governments to aid their own interests. How many coups did the CIA fund to overthrow a government and put in place an American backed patsy.

As far as how much Trump cares about Africa...well they are just SHITHOLE countries.

What I find distressful is how so many aren't blaming the Chinese.
To be honest, I just can't keep up with who Trump has said is to blame: China, WHO, democrats, governors, Obama, healthcare workers stealing masks, impeachment, experts, hospitals, the media, etc... I'm on overload. So much blame, so little time.

Come on now, you have to use a "half day"amount  for that joke to make sense.  Only about 3000 died in the Twin Towers attack.

Plus a few others in the ensuing years:

"As of August 2013, medical authorities concluded that 1,140 people who worked, lived, or studied in Lower Manhattan at the time of the attack have been diagnosed with cancer as a result of "exposure to toxins at Ground Zero".[14] It has been reported that over 1,400 9/11 rescue workers who responded to the scene in the days and months after the attacks have since died.[15] "

I know a lot of people who are living day-to-day with fear about how they're going to pay their rent or mortgage, utilities and buy food.  I just mailed another check to my cleaning girl to help out because she's had no work in a month with us or anywhere else.  I don't even know if she's a citizen but she has a family to feed also. I'm sure she's not going to get unemployment insurance.  When my men's group would go out every Friday morning for our ritual breakfasts together, the waitresses would fight with each other for the privilege of attending to us knowing they'd get good tips.  There are no Friday breakfasts any more. How are these women making out?  How are they feeding their families?

There are too many restaurants out there. Unfortunately, even after relaxing the lockdowns, quite a few of their employers will be forced to permanently shut down the restaurants and bars.

I found last night’s press conference reassuring. Trump has finally adopted all of the WHO pandemic guidelines — albeit 3 months too late.  Overall it felt like a roundabout way of saying that America won’t be opening any time soon. The experts have prevailed and the virus will be carefully managed out of existence. There really is no other option.
You are aware that Trump is leaving it up to the 50 governors of the 50 states to decide when and how to open up.  He doesn't control them.  All that's happened is that the CDC has set certain standards and concerns.  But the policies are going to be acted upon by the states, not the Federal government in Washington DC.  The Fed will provide money and help in the form of PPE and drugs for tests etc.  But the governors are responsible for everything else.  When they screw up, don;t come back later and blame Trump.

You have a daughter in the states. How would you feel if someone broke into her home one day and blew her away. Would that make it 7,501 deaths for that day? Would that cross your high threshold or is her death just a fact of life?

Glad to see there is a competition to faberryman for consistently posting inane remarks.

Yes, that appears to be his plan. Avoid blame at all costs. And your grandchild will ask you one day "What did Donald Trump do during the great 2020 pandemic?" "You mean Cadet Bonespurs? Oh, he avoided any blame, Sally. It's what great leaders do. Keep that in mind. When the call comes, always take one step back."

When it comes to cancer, some oncologists in Cuba perform treatments that are not done in other countries.

How does that justify losing your liberties and being punished or killed for opening your mouth?

Just like every other politician right now?

Wake me up when Cuomo starts to own up to his delay in closing down NYC, even after CA when NY had more cases, and his arrogance in saying "we have the best healthcare system in the world" and can handle it better then these lowly countries.

As Alan put it so well, failure is an orphan in politics.

Yep...if there is a screw up...it's the states fault...but if things go well...Trump will be trumpeting his own horn. That's typical of a coward and not a leader.

It's your total lack of any sensitivity with your remarks that is truly astonishing...but I think your full of shit and just like to present this persona on the net.

How does this fit into their cunning plan? Alan? I'm sure you will have a theory.
I  have thought of it.  Their GDP is -6% for last month.  They're going into recession like the rest of the world.  But who knows what they were thinking.  They seem to have pretty well controlled it and will get back on their feet faster because the Chinese are huge savers and can control their population at will unlike Americans who live week-to-week and save little and can't be controlled.

I suspect it was an accident at first although it could have been part of a weaponized virus strategy.  But when it got out, they figured let their people travel so the whole world is like them in a fix.  Who knows what these people were thinking?  Mao set off a policy that killed 30 million Chinese.  Maybe they figure this will jump start the future and put them in #1 position.  They think differently then you and I.

There is a lot of blame to go around, but its just so much easier to just blame Trump.  Why work so hard when you can just say Orange Man Bad.

And dont forget, they will use the woke left against everyone too, creating propaganda that it is racist to blame China.  Unfortunately the left is already eating this up, and even Bill Mawr is getting torn apart for pointing out it's not racist to blame China.

Another reason not to vote for Biden, since he is buy into this as well.

In this situation is it all the States problem.  This is a Representive Republic and as such the STATES have the power in this instance. Win or lose its all on them...always has been.

Here in Portugal, after 6 weeks of lockdown, number of unemployed has raised 32,000. There are almost 1,000,000 wrokers in lay off, meaning they are working at home, or sent home (depending on the company) receiving 66% of their salary. Credit lines have been opened to support companies in risk of going belly up. Number of new cases today: 181. I can not believe that the great USofA, under the magnanimous leadearship of the guy in the cap, has not enough money to help its citizens.

The old retired farts have died in great numbers with this disease, all across the world.
The USA is broke.  Even before the virus, we had a one trillion dollar deficit. Now, because of the virus, we'll be printing upwards of $6 trillion dollars.  This will become debt and reduce the purchasing power of the US dollar.  Savings retirees have worked their entire lives for will become worth half its value.  Social Security payments might be cut, or more likely, the government will just print more dollars to pay for it devaluing its purchasing power even more.  When the Senate votes 96-0 to print money, you know they're in no mode to cut Social Security and Medicare and other benefits Americans take for granted.  In this way, we're not much different than Europe.  We all want something for nothing.
