I was in the grocery recently and some kid was blasting REM's "It's the End of the World As We Know" on his headphones.  Now I thought it was pretty funny, but others, well ...

At least he was wearing a mask.
You ought to catch the movie, "This is the End" with Seth Rogan, Jonah Hill, and James Franco.  A funny take on the apocalypse.  Heck, you can't go anywhere anyways. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kliQSsD_npo

I haven't bought a pizza for at least 15 years, so I'd put it into a non-essential category.
That's the point.  Who decides what's essential.  :)

I'm afraid you are too late for that...

I’m talking about the Trump plan being released later today.  I’m expecting a 5 paragraph essay on each provision about it’s going to kill.

Damn iPhone spell check.

I'm sure we will be treated to more claims of Trump killing 90% of the US population that is left... 8)

It depends. If Trump wants to take credit, then him. If Trump wants to avoid blame, then the Governors.

Some places are saying plumping is essential so long as it involves water.  Leaking water main & You want to keep your house from flooding, no worries.  Gas line and you want to keep your house from exploding, to damn bad.

I’m being serious on this one; thankfully this kind of stupid has not hit Philly yet.

The anti-Trump media will blame him regardless how it works out.

The rest of the world is talking about open their economies including my pizza joint.  We've discussed the shutdown for 72 pages.  Can we discuss the future?  At this rate, I'll be dead, God forbid,  before I see the sun again.

Go ahead and discuss opening up. I'm still concerned we haven't wrestled the virus down enough to talk about opening up. I'd rather err on staying locked down longer than opening up too soon and causing more unnecessary suffering.

You already are, just economic, which will eventually trickle down to health and wellbeing.  We already have stories of people killing themselves and others over this.

I guess Trump has allowed New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Delaware to extend their lockdowns to May 15. Surprising to me that he would do so. My condolences to Joe. I can't wait to see the rest of his plan.

Actually the UK government are emphatically not discussing re-opening. At least not publicly.

Their messaging is very tight, as they believe that premature talk of re-opening will confuse the public.

No talk of being open for Easter here. No armed protestors on the street.

Now where is there this premature talk?  :-*

I doubt it will last.

This is not like waiting the tarmac being told every 30 minutes, just 30 more minutes until take off.  This is what they are doing.  Cuomo said he does not know what will happen in a month.

That's not leadership.  That's playing it safe politically.

Does that include pizza parlors?

All our pizza parlours are open, but just pickup or delivery. In fact most restaurants are open as well for pickup. They seem to be doing a good business right now as people at home are tired of cooking and order in.

We have stories of many more people killing themselves and others when the economy is booming. In fact gun violence is way down.

I'm still waiting the mass movement of people rioting in the streets, "can't take it anymore", that was discussed to happen two weeks ago.

Just like with viruses.

Amazing, people die all the time from sicknesses outside a shut down.

And there are people protesting right now, just in case you missed it.

I am not not sure why Trump is allowing them to play it safe politically. Some of the governors are Democrats.

... In fact gun violence is way down...

It is horrible when facts stand in the way of a good narrative:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/04/03/fact-check-coronavirus-has-not-lowered-death-rate-chicago/2940718001/

"Fact check: No, coronavirus did not lower the death rate in Chicago"

Nor Milwaukee (it went up).
