And yet, I'll repeat  it, every model you have pointed to has been revised lower, significantly and repeatably.  But anyway, if the data is truly not there for this, then, as Slobo pointed out, neither is it there to blame Trump for anything either.

Insofar as ending cutting, it is not criminal right now.  WHO has a rather large bank roll and will not feel the effects for 6 months.

But if not now, then when?  After this is over the attention and resolve wont be there.  It will get kicked down the road and nothing will happen; this is the perfect time.  Not to mention it is a masterful way of getting his opponents to unknowingly pick a winning battle for Trump.  I think Trump's ability politically is not to win the argument, it is to trick his opponents to pick the argument he can win.
US law only allows the president  to delay the payment for 45 days.  So he's making a point.  It won't affect WHO's operations.  Frankly, they should be cut.  How can you support an organization that's obviously corrupt and repeated China's lies?  Who in WHO was paid off by the Chinese?  ???

Really?  Test currently take days.  So your plan just sends them on their way and tells them self quarenteen.  Geeze, aside from testing it’s exactly what the US did.

Yes, aside from testing.

Quote
And why test everybody at the airport and send them home?  How many wasted tests at a time when tests were still at a premium.  You test them during their self quarenteen if they show symptoms.

Logistics. They are there. You don't have to send people out running around to try to track them down later. But your suggestion would be better than no testing.

The point is Trump did neither. Filling out a form and getting your temperature taken is a half-ass approach.

I can certainly read. If there is one constant in these 50+ pages so far, it is that Trump should have imposed a lockdown sooner to save lives. I never mentioned you specifically (noticed the "guys" - plural - in my post?).
They finally put the goalposts on wheels to make it easier to move around.

If people want to go out, they should go out.
Including people who are infected?  Even if they know they are infected?  No limit to personal liberty?

Protest online?   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yeah, that will be effective.

Overlap between the conservative whiners cheering on Michigan protesters and the conservative whiners that cried about Colin Kapernik kneeling and BLM tying up traffic?

Except that he did.  You didn’t read the post I made with what actually happened to those people and the instructions given to them bythe CDC...go home and self quarenteen and see help if you develop symptoms.

Since I am in the position to experience C19 in two countries simultaneously (the US from the media only, but I still have my daughter and friends, including doctors there), an observation:

You heard from me about the draconian measures in Serbia. Last weekend a 60-hour house arrest, this weekend 84 hours, military patrols, etc. You'd think (well, some of you): "Hey, at least someone takes this seriously and on time."

In reality, Serbian government officials, including the President of Serbia, were quite downplaying the risk in the beginning. The President suggested just to drink enough slivovitz (plum brandy) and all is good. Another apparatchik advised women to go shopping in Milan, as they must have huge sales under the circumstance (North Italy was already quite infected at that time). And yet another said that the virus is the funniest virus in the history of viruses.

My point being, back to the US, that, when criticizing the timing of the US (or Trump) reaction - you know all those memes listing by date what he said each day - to compare that with what the rest of the world was saying on those days (or adjusted for the timing of the virus arrival in particularly country).

Also, my American doctor friend admitted that he never thought this is going to get this serious.
I knew it was serious when we called off our weekly poker game about a month ago.  We also shutdown the men's weekly breakfast.  We didn't check with Trump though.   We figured he was busy enough.

I don't follow. My understanding is that the Danish government is taking this step because they feel they have flattened the curve enough to open this service. That's not a sign of sanity amidst the hysterics, it's where everyone wants to be. Presumably, that will be everyone's SOP.

Neither the USA or Canada is there yet, nor are many other countries so I don't see why we should be thinking about that yet. I just checked the stats and the USA is on track for another 2000 death day. Canada, unfortunately, just reached 1000 total deaths, but the graphs are still sloping up. Make plans for how to relax restrictions, to be sure, that's what authorities should be doing, but it makes no sense to act on the plans prematurely.

Regardless of what point people think it is ok to relax restrictions, it surely has to be sometime after peaking. But we're certainly not there yet.
Trudeau didn't institute a travel ban until Mar 14.  Trump's first travel ban was Jan 31st., six weeks earlier.  Why are Canadians complaining about Trump? It seems misplaced.  I think you need to do some soul searching and get your PM's act together.  He seems to be behind the curve.

I did say for it to be effective the protest must make those you are protesting against uncomfortable.  Protesting online does no such thing, but protesting the governor by clogging up the capital will annoy her directly.

Now, clogging up the highway and not directly effecting the politicians the BLM movement were protesting against made no sense.  It's not like it did not have an effect like doing it online would, it just effected the wrong people, which is why it failed.

A similar protest against the big banks my brother was in a few years ago involved having a sit in at Independence mall over Easter holiday.  I tried to explain to him it was meaningless to the banks because why the hell would they care.  It is not them being inconvenienced, but it would surely piss off National Park Rangers like no other.  He thought I was just being a conservative and yelling at him for being liberal.  At the end of it the bankers could care less yet there were plenty of news stories of rangers having to be away from their families during Easter.

So, it needs to be not just uncomfortable but well directed.

Yes, screened.  So you want to test 65,000 at 13 airports and then wait days to find out the results.

What a silly plan.  You do what you can do, and we did.  End of story, except for those who suffer from OMB virus.

Btw, the cruise ship passengers came from a boat with actual cases present.  They fit the law.  Funny how that works.
Plus they already had a room to sleep in, clothes, and food, all paid for by the cruise line.

The alternative is 26,000 deaths and counting. Yes...you did what you did...now blame others. That's Trumps plan...
I thought you were going to add to my list of positive things to do to open up the country.  After all, almost all of the 50 governors are for it as well.  It's just the timing and procedures to follow that they have to come up with.  It's got nothing to do with Trump.  Why do you keep talking about him? He's beside the point at this point in the conversation.

What exactly are they protesting about? Not being able to go to the garden centre? Or to play on their jet skis? Or to visit their friends and families?

(All of these seem like reasonable prohibitions for a month or two.)

How much did 911 kill? You can add a couple more decimal points. And such a big deal made from it.

Right. But we didn't close the whole god damn country because of it, nor intentionally crashed the economy.

Okay, so touching on Joe Biden again (as opposed to Joe touching everyone else), I am beginning to think maybe, just maybe, what Bernie is really hanging over Joe to pull him further left is that huge bank account he amassed during the campaign.

The whole delegates thing never made any sense, since Biden became the obvious winner a month ago.  Bernie really had no leverage there.

However, it is no secret Biden has had a lot of trouble raising funds, but Bernie has not.  Perhaps the reason Biden moved even further left this week in that Biden Bernie endorsement video is due to this.
Biden needs Bernie's voters.  So he's sucking up to Bernie so Bernie will give him his blessings and then Bernie's voters will go to the polls and vote for Biden dutifully.  By the time that happens, Biden will be calling everyone comrade.

No, Alan. They were taken off the cruise line and bused to an army base.

They're welcome here.  On the Trump coronavirus thread.  We 're already at 60 pages.  Maybe we can beat the old Trump collusion thread.  Or was it the old Trump emolument's thread.  It could have been the old Trump obstruction of justice thread.  Then again it could have been the impeachment thread. Well anyway, it was one of them.
