This story perfectly illustrates the silliness of what we are living through.

Three Colorado men arrested for violating state’s coronavirus stay-at-home order

Three men who came to visit a friend and refused to leave, albeit peacefully, were arrested and spent a night in jail, however a 4th man who assaulted a police officer was not.

So these petty tyrants popping up all over the country want to arrest people invited over someone's house/apartment, which is not trespassing, but a person who assaults a cop can just  go free?  And you actually think people will give a damn as more and more stories like this come out.

Oh, and about that Michigan protest, Drivers swarm Michigan capital to protest coronavirus lockdown measures

Yes, screened.  So you want to test 65,000 at 13 airports and then wait days to find out the results.

What a silly plan.  You do what you can do, and we did.  End of story, except for those who suffer from OMB virus.

Btw, the cruise ship passengers came from a boat with actual cases present.  They fit the law.  Funny how that works.

The alternative is 26,000 deaths and counting. Yes...you did what you did...now blame others. That's Trumps plan...

Since you put the word "now" in the sentence... whatever US decision becomes final, it will not affect the "now" budget cycle, that is, the current one. Besides, the US, the largest contributor, provides about 15% of the budget. Certainly not something that would affect gravely the operations (whatever it is they do). Maybe just cut their Meals & Entertainment budget.

Oh, while we are at it, cut the funding and kick the UN out of the US too.

The idea is repugnant. In addition I don't know if it really won't affect their current workings, I'm sure their needs are much higher in this period.
I know he's doing this because it's so shameless that people will jump and stop questioning his actual failures, it's a trademark tactic.

Since I am in the position to experience C19 in two countries simultaneously (the US from the media only, but I still have my daughter and friends, including doctors there), an observation:

You heard from me about the draconian measures in Serbia. Last weekend a 60-hour house arrest, this weekend 84 hours, military patrols, etc. You'd think (well, some of you): "Hey, at least someone takes this seriously and on time."

In reality, Serbian government officials, including the President of Serbia, were quite downplaying the risk in the beginning. The President suggested just to drink enough slivovitz (plum brandy) and all is good. Another apparatchik advised women to go shopping in Milan, as they must have huge sales under the circumstance (North Italy was already quite infected at that time). And yet another said that the virus is the funniest virus in the history of viruses.

My point being, back to the US, that, when criticizing the timing of the US (or Trump) reaction - you know all those memes listing by date what he said each day - to compare that with what the rest of the world was saying on those days (or adjusted for the timing of the virus arrival in particularly country).

Also, my American doctor friend admitted that he never thought this is going to get this serious.

That others were dumb doesn't make his response better. And when did your friend change his mind? Personally I did not know what to believe until the second half of February when I realized we will get hit significantly. Obviously I couldn't predict exactly how bad but enough to prepare for the worst. They had much more info and had the people with expertise so I'm sure they knew quite sometime before, and they also had an idea about the scale. Even some from CDC came up publicly on 2/25: https://www.statnews.com/2020/02/25/cdc-expects-community-spread-of-coronavirus-as-top-official-warns-disruptions-could-be-severe/ . This is the country with the best response for an epidemic (even that would be inadequate in absolute terms) but we let it waste and we did as bad as others.

... So these petty tyrants popping up all over the country...

Democrats are all commies these days. Their wet dream coming true. Never before this mass hysteria could they have imagined such opportunity to exercise Soviet-style control over their citizen. To have a dry run for gun seizing at a later date.

Serbia digression: at some point, authorities were considering sending police into people homes to extract those suspected of being infected.

Blue color like in the Avatar movie? But then, he would need a long tail.

No, the lengthening nose works just fine - a tail too would be overdressing.

Okay, so touching on Joe Biden again (as opposed to Joe touching everyone else), I am beginning to think maybe, just maybe, what Bernie is really hanging over Joe to pull him further left is that huge bank account he amassed during the campaign.

The whole delegates thing never made any sense, since Biden became the obvious winner a month ago.  Bernie really had no leverage there.

However, it is no secret Biden has had a lot of trouble raising funds, but Bernie has not.  Perhaps the reason Biden moved even further left this week in that Biden Bernie endorsement video is due to this.

Serbia may not be the wisest state in the world, but its impact on the rest of mankind is tiny compared with Mr Trump's impact on almost everything except my libido.

Oh, and about that Michigan protest, Drivers swarm Michigan capital to protest coronavirus lockdown measures.

Yeah, very brave of those motherfuckers. What if there was an emergency, how were the first responders supposed to get through? I can bet none would waive their right for ventilator if the get Covid, but would be screaming the most that they are entitled to it.
Btw, few hundreds is how much, 0.0001% of Michigan's population?
I hate these assholes who are totally inconsiderate of others. Yeah, their right to roam has been entangled with to save some lives, how terrible this is. Come up with a plan, work with the other party to try to open it safely, not just behave like idiots.

Are being obtuse for grins, or is it just a natural condition for you?

You have to follow the law and work within the system you have.  But of course for armchair infectious diesease experts like you, the law simply gets in the way.  People were going to die with this virus.  We just have to live with that, or be  be unlucky and die with it.  Again, welcome to reality, even if it is something beyond your ken

Always trying to find a reason to suppress rights.  What about the first responders?

Simple answer, let them protest on the sidewalk.

I, for one, couldn't care less about curves (unless they are female - and those I certainly wouldn't flatten), peaks or flattening them. Just like Sweden.

But if you insist on graphs and curves, here is one that explains why Texas is going to open for business soon:

You can only avoid the flattening by adopting anything but the missionary. So said Confucius.

Expect more.

But hey, what is the percentage of the dead to the US population? How many zeros after the decimal point?

"Covid-19 has killed .0000069% of Americans to date.
Outside of New York City, it has killed .0000039% of Americans."

People have the right to protest, live with it, and protesting is not effective unless it is uncomfortable for those you are protesting against.

Sorry, but after the around 250 years of this country, I am not going to give up our right to protest just because of a virus.

He has been telling us about the China ban and the potential lives it saved for weeks.

Potential don't count. I am a potential millionaire twice a week, every week the lottery is running. I am in despair because it has been suspended until Corinna goes home. That despair could make me a potential suicide.

Those three guys look totally mashed, so the cops couldn't let them drive away from the scene. A night in the cells seems like an appropriate solution. What would you suggest?

I don't have any problem with them protesting. I think its ironic they are practicing safe distancing by staying in their cars.

I'm sure the are more, idiots never come in singles.
I get it they feel it's too much, but they should have a discussion with actual arguments about this and not behave like they are back to terrible twos.

Btw, Romania (my native country and your neighbor) had to get the army/police in streets to keep people from going out, and it's still not that successful.

Apparently you are giving up the right to think also. Protest online, have an argument, come up with a plan. Otherwise you are no better than the partiers on the Florida beaches, "if I get corona, I get corona". It's incredibly selfish for people to argue that their right to go fishing is more important than somebody's right to live. It's only been a month.
I feel you don't have perspective here. All these nonbelievers should go in some of the Covid ICUs and see what it means.
