He may not have succeeded totally to execute on his intentions. But the point is his mindset and the awful impact he has had on the life of Americans.

Fortunately smart governors have moved forward despite him.

Trump was a genius.   He got the Dems to insist he has no right to tell them how to run their states during the Pandemic.  And of course that’s the exact truth.  He never did,  He knows that. They knew that...most everyone but a few dumb non US citizens knew that.

It’s really simple.  With one swift move he inoculated himself from the coming nonsense from the Dems who have the same limited mental capacity as some posters from Japan.

Sweden's experiment with a light-touch lockdown seems to have failed. Their death toll is ramping up fast. 170 dead today, up from 114 yesterday. (With a population of 10m, Sweden's 170 is 5,500 in US terms).

Indeed. I saw a piece about it on Portuguese TV about 2 weeks ago. By that time, we were 2 weeks into lockdown, while they were enjoying the sun and feeling smug.

You know, viruses and how they spread is quite predictable. Doing the same thing and expecting a different result is dumb. Why would it work differently in Sweden? Or in any other country? Of course each country can choose which path to take, but then they need to face the consequences.

I don't want to seem mean, but it's good that different countries took different paths.  Some got hurt more than others. That will teach us a lot going forward and when we're hit again.    It would have been nice if Sweden got a different result doing it differently.  Maybe the defense against the virus was in their water, or in their genes, or whatever.  It may have flagged something that would help us defeat this plague.  It does prove that social distancing works.  So now we have to fumble forward trying to figure out how to get back to "normal" living.  It's a bad situation for the world with no simple answers it seems.  Maybe we just have to go through mass infections to build immunity.  A scary thought for me at 75 and in the target group.   

My friend is coming out of two weeks at home with Covid.  He's around 72.  He thought he was going to die, had two spiritual enlightenments due to the duress, and suffered alone.  He refused to go to the hospital fearing he would die there like so many others.  So he fought it out at home by himself coughing, sucking for air, passing out and being delusional at times.  His wife got caught in Thailand weeks ago visiting their daughter who teaches English there. So she worried from afar.  She couldn't get back to the USA.  I told him it may be fortunate she was there for surely she would have caught it too if she was with him at home.
