Well Trump hasn't.  I've always been non-emotional when talking about such things for a long long time.  Like I said before, I just don't understand how someone can let their emotions dictate their logic when thinking about such things as "academically" as we are.

But anyway, not all you say.  Well give me your number.  In your mind, what is the acceptable number of deaths the USA should experience from this?

No idea...but I'd personally rest better if at the end of the day I could say we did a good job fighting it and Mother Nature has its way. What I've seen and read...we are far from saying we did everything in our power to fight this attack.

How about you. You feel great about how the USA has handled this attack? Only 25,000 and counting collateral damage. By your previous posts...you seem pretty pleased with everything that was done.

I'm sure you have some great ideas of how we can get the economy going with the least possible medical risk.  Would you like to share them with us?

Nope...plenty experts working that problem around the world. I'm more concerned about battling this virus because if we don't get it under control...the economy won't matter.

Well I never said that nor did  I call you a name.

Joe, Alan said it and I replied saying he's clueless, to which you replied in his support and said something about my rabbit TDS or something like that.

Either way, I'm not going to be that present on this forum, my "vacation" is ending soon (was planned long ago but instead of South California deserts I get to argue here) and right now I think people are mostly posting only what fits with their narrative and discard others stuff. I'll probably chip in the Science post only.

Well considering people keep on saying it is worse then the flu, keeping the number of deaths at or below typical flu season death I would say would be a win.  So 60K or less.

In hindsight, sure there are things we could have done better.  However, ignoring egregious actions such as not listening to any medical experts, which Fauci has repeatably stated Trump did and continues to listen to him, engaging in this hindsight is a fallacy.  We know better know because we know the results of this, but we did not know what the results would have been at the time the decisions  were made.

So I think it would be unfair to criticize Trump, or anyone else, based on information we only learned after the fact.

Well that's a shitty vacation.  No wonder you're testy.

This disease is killing thousands of your fellow countrymen every day, and you have no emotion?

It is worse than the flu. Let's not forget the flu season starts in October and extends into April. Covid only really took hold a month ago...and measures were put in place to reduce the damage. It would be a totally different story if isolation measures were not put in place...late as they may have been.

As far as criticizing Trump...he had the same information and hindsight from countries already tackling the virus so he does not get a free pass. His actions of just scoffing at the virus...it'll just magically go away...did a lot of damage as people look at leaders during time of crisis and Trump totally flopped on his leadership.

Not one discussing it and policies used in response to it.

You're just repeating what you said dozens of time before.  We understand.  I thought you were invited to contribute a plan on how to get the economy going while keep the virus at a distance.

Alan...you've repeated your "I ain't going to take it anymore...and coming out guns blazing" mantra for weeks now.

I am smart enough to know that I don't know a thing about bringing up the economy once the virus dies down. What about you...smart enough to know what you don't know?

I'd like to hear your plan Alan.

1.   The feds should bench mark openings based on a regional level.
2.   Then meet with the governors from each region in the order the feds think they can be opened.
3.   Governors would input their concerns
4.   Each area would come up with a plan to implement joint agreements.
5.   Both the Feds and the governors of the regional group would sign off the plans
6.   Governors would order opening per the plan in their spheres of control; the Fed would do the same in their spheres.

Discussion: One advantage is that the feds can meet with a smaller group of governors so things can get done expeditiously.  There's no time to waste.  Smaller groups will come to agreements quicker.  Regional concerns take priority; they won't be discussing concerns from other areas of the country that don’t effect the current discussion group.  Cosmopolitan issues of the east are different than farming areas.  Another advantage is that it appears smaller populated and more open areas would come first since they have the least infections.  We'd learn a lot from them that would apply to the more difficult regions that are hot spots.

How do you control people coming from hot zones to zones trying to open and start the infection all over again. What criteria would be used to guide opening up? How does one handle one part of the country free to go out to bars and restaurants while another part can't go out of their houses.

The easy part is Feds and states getting together to come up with a plan. The hard part is in the details.

Good questions.  My rough plan has to be expanded. It needs more details.  So what do you recommended?  Add them to the list.

According to this report from TheHill.com, there will be a delay in some Covid-19 payouts as they set up Trump's signature on the cheques, https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/492861-treasury-dept-orders-trump-name-be-printed-on-coronavirus-stimulus. In difficult times, it's important to set priorities.

I don't pretend I know how to restore the economy while the virus is still active so coming up with any kind of plan is a waste of time.

Since I don’t have my banking information on file with the IRS, I’ll be getting one of those checks.  I’ll make sure to photograph it.  Trumps name will be cool to see.

Very tacky.  Reminds me of what happens in NYC.  First off, at every city construction site, building, even when you drive into NYC where there's a Welcome to NYC sign, the current Mayor has his name emblazoned on the sign.  Then when the new mayor takes over, every sign in the city, and there are thousands of them, are pulled down and new ones mounted with the new Mayor's name., each at a cost of thousands of dollars to cover the price of the sign and the union labor to remove the old and install the new one.

Of course, if half those people who received checks are still not working on election day, the check will help them remember who to blame for keeping them out of work. The check would have long been spent.  Of course, the Fed might just still be printing and printing giving away even more money.  They could extend unemployment insurance just long enough to get past election day.  By the time it's over, a roll of 35mm film will cost $38.00.
