Trump's henchmen are at the ready:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/hundreds-of-armed-men-went-to-gettysburg-to-defend-it-from-a-phantom-antifa-flag-burner-created-on-social-media/2020/07/04/206ee4da-bb05-11ea-86d5-3b9b3863273b_story.html

This has happened before. In 2017, a militia group showed up to a supposed antifa event and:

"They encountered no one from antifa, but one of the armed militia members accidentally shot himself in the leg with a revolver." Oops.

Speaking of masks, no one was wearing a mask. Trump supporters are too tough to wear masks. Real men. Macho macho. Trump said he looked like The Lone Ranger in a mask. Then someone pointed out to him that he shouldn't be wearing the mask over his eyes, but over his nose and mouth.

I never heard of such a thing.  In any case, the movie proved nothing.  Probably was texting and moved into the other lane and then moved back out again when he noticed.  Why would someone deliberately screw up their engine for this effect?  You have to lose power when accelerating just when you need it.  Only German diesel cars did stuff like this.  :)

Alan, coal-rolling is *a thing.* It's done by rednecks. There are hundreds of coal-rolling videos. I suspect you also didn't spend a lot of time listening to NWA, but that doesn't mean it didn't exist, and wasn't *a thing."

It seems pretty lame to me. On the other hand when I was a kid, some friends put cutouts into their cars.  It would allow the exhaust out of the side of the car before reaching the mufflers and tail pipe.  The rumble would make it seem like a couple of Harley motorcycles.  That was also lame but seem like fun when we were kids.  '

What's NWA?

Absolutely true. You can't make this stuff up. Stable genius. The leader of the free world. Well, used to be.

I know I'd be hesitant to be in the initial groups.  I'd want to see how others are doing before jumping in the water.

So does Kanye West have a policy on Covid?
Or a policy on anything for that matter?

I agree these are old jobs coming back.  But since you blamed him for the loss of these jobs in the first place

I don't recall anyone blaming Trump for job losses.

And some will think "Better the devil you know than the devil you don't" and will vote for the devil.

In that scenario, it's not clear there's much choice.

Not having a policy may be an improvement on the incumbent.

Isn't it weird that celebrities think that they may be suited for elected office?

I don't understand this move on Trump's part, https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/505966-trump-swipes-at-nascar-for-banning-confederate-flag-bubba-wallace. Leaving the whole noose thing aside, why does Trump give a damn if NASCAR bans Confederate flags? And why does he need to insult Bubba Wallace? Is this what US politics is these days, dog-whistle race-baiting? He already has the racist redneck vote, why keep stoking that fire. The man is a one-trick pony, isn't he, just insult, bait, insult, bait, repeat. There's nothing else to the guy, is there?

And just out of curiosity. Is it normal for people in the public sphere to have their nieces sign non-disclosure agreements? How did that come about, does anyone know?

It's a disgrace that the government is putting the country and people  on the hook with all this debt.  These companies are just putting the money in their pockets enriching rich people, more.  Even political parties are enriching themselves with this money.  Small companies who have no intention to stay in business. And how is the government going to verify 4.9 million loans were properly used?  There's no one in the government to investigate.  The business owners are just putting this money in their pockets.  Morgan Bank got $26 billion.  Even local Democrat and Republican political parties got half a million or so each.  PF Chang Chinese restaurants got $10 million.  Churches, Hebrew Centers, major law firms, newspapers, etc. Are they kidding?  No wonder they're all supporting these handouts in the op-ed pages.  They're stealing from the Treasury and sticking the public with the bill. This is the swamp in action.  Doesn;t matter.  Democrats and Republic alligators.  All the same.  What Trump railed against, he has now joined.  He just signed another $150 billion addition to this program.  He's now the insider like the rest of them.  The pandemic is just an excuse to raid the Treasury.  Is it any different in Europe?

It's amazing what politics has become in the US. I used to think the shoe throwing episodes in some Asian politics was pathetic...but Trump raises the pathetic bar way higher. All this during a major crisis where your people are dying ( 130k+ ). And people want this joker as their leader?

It is unclear whether Trump has struck some sort of security deal with Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro or just has no idea where the statue of Christ the Redeemer is located.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-camp-vows-to-protect-brazils-most-iconic-statue-from-left-wing-mobs

Trump and Bolsonaro are neck and neck for the award for the worst coronavirus response from a world leader. Trump got an early head start but Bolsonaro is quickly closing the gap. As a gesture of good will among competitors, Trump sent Bolsonaro two million doses of hydroxychloroquine.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-usa-brazil/u-s-sends-brazil-2-million-doses-of-hydroxychloroquine-drug-touted-by-trump-idUSKBN2370RU

Trump is still trying to figure out what to do with the rest of the 63 million doses he bought for the national stockpile. Christmas presents?

Wow! You've sure got a complicated election system in the USA. Refer attached link to the Wikipedia article on the Electoral College. It goes on and on about the complexities and problems throughout the history of US elections. It's difficult to wrap my head around it.

You have to understand that our electoral system is a remnant of a time when women, minorities, and renters were (generally speaking, though there were exceptions) not thought qualified to indulge in self-determination.   While the laws have been updated, the creaky legacy structure underneath has some pretty severe issues.
