There's a fundamental difference between "history shows us that quarantine can be effective in stopping the spread of a plague, so let's do that," and "Hey - I heard on Fox & Friends that this doc in France thinks arsenic can cure cancer, so, hey - go ahead and take it - what have you got to lose?  I mean, you're gonna die anyway, so..."

And yet no corroboration in the USA exist between lockdown and the spread.

Be patient. You'll get your corroboration. The looser states have yet to reach their peak death rate.

The article speaks for itself. At least Dubbya hired and kept some competent advisors. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/top-health-official-says-he-was-ousted-pushing-back-trump-n1190041

So, Dr. Rick Bright lied and the media ran with it to damage Trump.  Below are two articles, first one from Politico and second from The Washington Examiner, reporting the real story.  (I prefer the politico story, but the headline from The Washington Examiner was too good not to post.

Ousted vaccine expert battles with Trump team over his abrupt dismissal

It sure looks like the New York Times got played by the former HHS expert who says his firing was 'retaliation'

First, he was not fired, merely reassigned.  Additionally, he had been a problem within the department, constantly clashing with superiors, for a long time and his reassignment was over a year in the making.  Furthermore, he never opposed hydroxychloroquine and actually it appears to be the opposite.

From Politico, Bright told The New York Times on Wednesday that he believed his removal was because of his internal opposition to pursuing investments in malaria drugs as potential treatments for Covid-19, which President Donald Trump has touted without scientific evidence. Three people with knowledge of HHS' recent acquisition of tens of millions of doses of those drugs said that Bright had supported those acquisitions in internal communications, with one official saying that Bright praised the move as a win for the health department as part of an email exchange that was first reported by Reuters last week, although Bright's message was not publicly reported.

So, it appears this story fell into the lap at the NYTs and other outlets, which if you take Bright's story as true would produce another hit piece on Trump.  So, instead of doing actual reporting, many in the media just ran with it instead of seeing if Bright was just another asshole with an ax to grind who was pissed off he got reassigned.

Just two weeks right?  If it does not come, just wait two more and so on.  Eventually the end of the world will get here.   ;)

You wouldn't think we needed to be told this but beware snake oil salesman, https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-52407177. The BBC reports on the benefits of taking Covid-19 medical advice from leaders of state who are spectacularly unqualified to do so. I swear, some days I feel as if I'm living in an episode of the Twilight Zone. We might as well be taking medical advice from a 12th century village elder. How in the f**k did things get this stooopid. It's embarrassing to read this shit.

Perhaps Trump will put himself forward as a volunteer for the clinical trials?
He didn't tell the public to try disinfectants in their bodies.  He was speaking to the scientist who reported during the news conference the effect of various disinfectants had on the virus outside the body. Trump indicated to him that they should continue their research to see if some application of these disinfectants might work inside the body.  After all, the scientist announced that alcohol is a terrific disinfectant along with others as well.  That they were going to publish an updated list.  So maybe a shot of tequila could kill virus in your throat and lower the threat of spreading.   Of course the anti-Trump press picked up on it as usual, and tried to make him into some mad scientist.  All he was doing was suggesting that these new findings could be used as a jumping off point for further research.  Like Slobodan said, brainstorming. This is just 50 years of the press's way of trying to make fun of presidents and candidates they don't like.  The pulled the same thing with Ike and Reagan and others.  Of course with Biden, they minimize his real deficiencies due to age because they want him to win.

Turns out POTUS owes Bank of China a few bucks, https://www.politico.com/news/2020/04/24/trump-biden-china-debt-205475. It just keeps coming. There are almost no words left to describe the situation.

Is it better to inject yourself with a disinfectant before you get the virus or only after you feel shortness of breath?

So you would think that according to this article Trump would be soft on China.  I feel like the tariffs completely destroy this argument.

On top of that, we have years of Biden quote praising China and Biden saying China has been great for the entire world.  I think those quotes will play a lot more then some complicated financial interest Americans wont bother to read the details of.

Well, Trumpy took you at your word, Joe.

Medical experts denounce Trump's latest 'dangerous' suggestion to treat Covid-19

Well lookie here...  maybe a Trump knows more than you and the press on this.

Could a New Ultraviolet Technology Fight the Spread of Coronavirus?

Columbia researcher David Brenner believes far-UVC light—safe for humans, but lethal for viruses—could be a ‘game changer.’

The UN food agency is now predicting that 135M people could starve to death from the economic shut down and the cascading effects.

Just like suicides though, they probably would starve anyway, right?

So, in the midst of a global epidemic, filled with unknowns and no medical response, you have a President thinking outside the box and asking “what about this”, and somehow that becomes a problem?

Well I  guess it’s far better for our leaders to say, “ whatever you say” ?

I don’t want yes men, I want those who are willing to ask even if the answer is no...but perhaps the answer might be maybe.  People said we could not go to the moon.  Heck people still say we cant, but we took, hey you can’t do that and turned it into yes we can by asking questions that in many cases resulted in a “ no” and we found a way to make it a yes.

But I guess if you are totally infected with Orange Man Bad Virus, anything that fits the needs of your virus sounds good.

It's thinking outside the box.  We have the same kind of criticism here in this forum about photography.  Someone takes a different approach with their photos, and everyone jumps on him complaining that he's violating some rule of composition.  If everyone followed the rules or what seems logical, nothing new would ever be invented.

As if he could get any worse, Trump is now suggesting that people inject disinfectant to cure covid-19. Un-effing believable!! Tell ya what, Donny Boy, why don't you and your supporters try it to show the rest of how it works?
