TXF Reference data conversion
« on: March 31, 2020, 12:53:19 pm »

Hello All:

I'm trying to evaluate profiles in ColorThink Pro by comparing reference data against the profile. X-Rite's reference data is in TXF format which CTP can't read. Does anyone know how I can convert that data to Text or other format which is readable by CTP?

Just save it as CGATS.

Thanks for your reply.

I would if I could. But, I see no way to do that in i1Profiler. When I try to save it in another format after loading the appropriate workflow I get a message which says"There are no measurements available to save." Of course, I don't want to save measurements. I want to save the reference data which is currently in TXF format.

You don't see the option or you can't? I can on this end do both.
Specifically what reference data are you trying to save?

I'm unable to because i1Profiler won't give me the option to save the reference data relative to the profiling charts that I printed. The charts were generated by i1Profiler. The reference data exists in the form of one file in TFX format which resides inside the folder called "Test Charts" which is inside the ColorSpace RGB folder which is inside the i1Profiler folder on my MAC inside the Library folder.

I contacted x-Rite and asked for help. They said there should also be a TXT (text) file there. But, there isn't and I sent them screen shots of the menus and folders. Their reply was: "Yes I see, it appears these are custom charts. I don't know of anyway to access that data." Not sure what they meant by "custom charts" as they were created by i1Profiler.

I loaded the "Default i1i0" target, saved as .txt. Ditto for one called ETC1728RGB. Again, saved as CGATs (txt), CTP opened it fine. I tried with a custom chart I built, again, a text file CTP was able to open.

Well, once again, I found myself lost. BUT, thanks to your post, it just occurred to me what might be wrong. I'm in the habit of loading our workflows before doing anything else after which I go to the measurement tab because it is there that I will be loading the measurements. So, I loaded the workflow, went to the measurements area, and there is where I tried to save the reference data. Then your post made me rethink and discover the error. Instead, I just loaded the chart, stayed in the chart area and was able to save to all the formats that you mentioned. THANK YOU very much!

Hindsight is 20/20. But, man-oh-man following old habits without using my little brain does get in the way.
