Update on my Brookline exhibit
« on: March 28, 2020, 05:32:36 pm »

My exhibit at the Brookline, MA, Senior Center was mounted on time by my friend David Weinberg while I was at Mass General Hospital getting my kidney transplant.

The exhibit is still hanging, but it never opened, because of the Coronavirus pandemic. I expect that it will open eventually, and I'll post an update about a rescheduled reception whenever that happens.

In the meantime, I have added an online version of the exhibit, with a few additional images, to my website.
It is the first gallery at myrvaagnes.com/ehome.htm and here is a direct link to the gallery:

http://myrvaagnes.com/gexhibit/index.htm

You can view it as a slideshow, or click on any single image and use the left- and right-arrow keys to wander through the exhibit.

A brief list of images and some locations can be found in the "About this gallery" link at the top of the page.

Eric,

First off, congratulations and my very best wishes on your kidney transplant...You must feel like a billion!

You show looks terrific. You have a wide range of splendid photographs in a wonderful presentation. So many powerful pictures.
The Last image in the train yard is amazing...When was that made?

Best of luck, always.

Peter

Thanks, Peter.

That last image is probably the first "keeper" I ever made. It was in the last 1950s or early 1960s on Atlantic Avenue, near the waterfront in Boston. The tracks were probably taken up sometime in the 1970s.

I remember I was wandering around there with an early Pentax, and no tripod. The yard locomotive was just sitting there with that lovely light on it. I had to guess at exposure, and I must have bracketed. For stability I just leaned against a telephone pole.

I have long been fond of that image.

Best, Eric

It's a great show Eric. What's its prognosis? Is it going to open once the panic is over?

The plan is to open the exhibit once restrictions on public gatherings are removed. Although the curator already has a couple of shows signed up to follow mine, he says he can postpone those indefinitely. So eventually the show will be open for two months, with a new reception scheduled, whether later this year, or next, or ...

Meanwhile, I am looking over some of my vintage (wet darkroom) images to add a few more to the online exhibit.

There's some good stuff there, Eric, just as (obviously) I'd anticipated.

Thanks, Jeremy.

While I can't get out anywhere interesting to photograph, I have time to browse the archives.

I've now added fourteen more "Vintage prints" to near the end of my online exhibit, with a (very) little more explanation in the "About this gallery" page.

The physical exhibit probably has around 31 prints; the online one now has 53 images.

The same link works:  http://myrvaagnes.com/gexhibit/index.htm

Enjoy.

Thank you, Alan.

But the show presumably will proceed, once this Coronavirus era is over. Maybe next year? The year after? ...
