should I "upgrade" my phone (XSMax, IOS 12.4) to iOS 13.4?
« on: March 27, 2020, 12:38:58 pm »

My question is whether by now, with 13.4, the IOS is sufficiently stable that I will not have battery and other problems. I am generally slow to upgrade, not super slow, just slow.
I'm currently on iOS 12.4 on my iPhone XSMax. I have read so many terrible things about iOS 13 starting with its introduction that I'm quite nervous about it, perhaps needlessly so.
In these times, especially, my phone is very important to me.

I looked a the IOS 13 forum at MacRumors and it's loaded with unhappy people, but then again, those for whom all is working fine are not likely to post on such a forum.

I realize this is not strictly a photographic question, but I trust my colleagues here at LULA for well thought out, non-impulsive photo and computer solutions and would appreciate hearing from those who've upgraded and if they've had problems as well as the reasoning behind others' decision not to do the upgrade.

Thanks to all.

Eric

I can't speak to the XSMax.  I can only relate that it works fine on my XR.

Thanks Ron, I was beginning to worry that no one here uses an iPhone  :), or had a good or bad experience.

There are a lot of iPhone addicts on this forum.  I'm not sure how many have an XSMax though.

Thanks again Ron,

I mentioned my model but don't think that it matters. My wife has a 7 and accidentally upgraded. A few things are different but not sure they're significant. Hers seems ok. Hers seems to I wanted a sample of more than one.

You're welcome, Eric.

I hope your OS update goes well.

I have an iMac, MBP, iPhone, iPad and an Apple Watch.  The watch is new and the update process seems a bit convoluted compared to all the other devices.

Best wishes for a successful update.

I remain a bit surprised by the lack of commentary on this question. Interestingly when there are discussions of whether to upgrade computer OS's, eg High Sierra to Mojave or Mojave to Catalina, there's quite a bit of discussion. Oh well, thanks to those who looked.

Here on my XR, it also works fine and I would say better than iOS 12 (no scientific tests, just my feelings).
