I use Amazon a lot. Several years a customer. Got the Prime, use the video and e-books, and buy stuff. And now I have a new puppy. Over the past 4 weeks I bought a bunch of puppy stuff. Collars, harnesses, leashes, toys, and treats. That should make me a marked man.
But today my Amazon home page wants to sell me shoes, watches, jewelry, air purifiers, "Styles for Her", Milwaukee tools, catnip, and a litter box. My Prime "Movies we think you'll like" has 35 suggestions. Only 1 of them looked interesting to me. Many were romantic comedies, which I strongly avoid.
My Prime Reading "Recommended for you" has 48 suggestions. Eighteen of those are the ancient classics, of the rest I found zero of interest. A lot of over-the-top SciFi and post apocalyptic stuff by unknown authors.
So, my question is, "Where is the Artificial Intelligence?" Why is Amazon so far off the mark when they have extensive history of my buying, reading, and viewing habits? Most amazing is why are they trying to sell me cat stuff when it's clear I'm a dog guy? The bonehead running the register at my local Petco store isin't even that stupid.
Could it be that they are only trying to sell me the stuff they need to sell, instead of stuff I want to buy?
