I happen to know more about this than you assume.
These are the internal guidelines of a very large health system. It's valid mostly for procedures that can produce aerosols (intubation/extubation, bronchoscopies, suctioning,etc) but I think they are concerned that even the regular swabs can lead to it, when you do it, therefore the requirements for N95 and other protective equipment and negative pressure rooms. I suspect the negative pressure rooms for swabs are overkill but these are the current guidelines.

70 cases of coronavirus??  There were 45 million estimated cases of influenza (flu) in the US in 2017-2018 season with 44,000 to 95,000 deaths.  No one blinked.  Are we overblowing this thing for US  presidential election political reasons?

Only 90,000 cases of Coronavirus worldwide, 90% in China, including 95% of the deaths.  I'm not saying it isn't serious. But compared to the common flu with 54 million cases and 50,000 + or - deaths, are we over-rating it?  NO one was panicked by the flu.  Yet , there seems to be a kind of psychological epidemic where people I know, including me, have reacted to this thing with real panic.  The numbers don't' equate to the concern.

Just a clarification.  The flu numbers in my last post are only for the USA.  The Coronavirus are the worldwide numbers making it even less of a concern.
