A gloomy day
« on: February 22, 2020, 10:08:06 pm »

Couple of monos.

I don't mind them, but I'm thinking the composition is not as strong as I would like.

I think it's more a matter of processing than the compositions; perhaps a bit more playing around with local contrasts would help the shots... I believe your intended sense of gloom would still come through because of the apparent absence of sunlight.

With the present processing I find the second the stronger of the two.

Thanks Rob & Eric.

Yes, the second one I played with the contrast a bit more and it seemed to lift it.

I might play around with the local contrast some more and see where it takes me.

I join the two former opinions… The second image is more to my likings but both have the potential to become better (via better processing).

I prefer the second, but I think you could make more of the sky.

Thank you Jeremy.  More definition in the clouds perhaps?

You also could add a flash of lightning on the horizon, Matt.

That's what I had in mind, yes. But be careful: it's terribly easy to overcook skies, as I have found to my cost on more than one occasion.

Ignore Russ. He's teasing. He likes to do that.

Now that made me laugh  ;D
I'm sure there's a Jake Olson overlay I could buy for that  ;D ;D

Will try a few subtle changes. It is easy to go too far sometimes.

If you're gonna go on LuLa, Jeremy, you gotta keep your sense of humor.

+1.

I was going to suggest two flashes of lightning (and maybe a mermaid) but I think I won't.   :-\
