I am seeing strange things going down with the currency values: whilst much of Europe has - at the moment - a worse scenario than does Britain regarding Coronavirus, with far more things locked down, the pound is falling again against the euro (worth only 1.10 euros this morning). But it, the pound, is rising against the dollar.
Does that signify, perhaps, that the money guys see the US as headed towards a greater apocalypse than Europe?
I tend to see it partly in terms of yet another initial spin-off of Brexit: we are slowly slipping away from a possibly more unified western European approach to health standards, sharing of knowledge and even of expectations. I think this is reflected in the reluctance to close down sports and other crowd events by governmental order, but rather rely on the sports interests themselves to take such actions. It reeks of fear of alienating public love. Thinking such love exists is but another sign of political delusion.
Plastic bags. Only women know how to open those things in supermarkets without licking their fingertips in order to get a grip on the thin material and separate it (as with kitchen cling film). The supermarket trolleys' handles go through heaven knows how many pairs of dangerous hands every day. Dirty trolleys, licked fingertips... heysoos, maybe better to starve!
In Britain, they are now speaking in terms of perhaps locking down the aged for four months. This is dangerous talk: the intention behind such action is the protection of the more vulnerable old people, but how long before that becomes reversed, and folks begin to believe that the old are more likely to infect the rest of the population?
A good thing here might be that with empty streets, folks will find themselves unable to buy their drugs. Could be a blessing in disguise there.
