indeed. The "graininess" does well.
The white mushroom on the right distracts my eye due to the luminance.

My guess is that that "mushroom" is a white-haired person.

Removing Eric's senior citizen alters the visual balance.

Because of that, it seems to me that the second version loses its right to its shape. I think it now needs to be cropped to a more horizontal format.
