impact of Coronavirus on WW Mac Pro deliveries
« on: February 03, 2020, 08:26:33 pm »

For what it's worth, there was no explicit notification from Apple, but the delivery date of my Mac Pro changed today from 2/7 to 2/23. UPDATE: I got a notification from Apple, but no explanation of the reason of the delay.

Although there is no information provided, I believe this results from the impact of the Coronavirus in China.

Considering the daily worsening of the situation (https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6), I am afraid the shipment may be delayed for a lot longer...

Cheers,
Bernard

Well if your country is anything like our country then most things come from China. Shortages of a lot of things are likely.

i believe the machine is assembled in Austin, Tx.
Sure , may be that some of the internal bits supply chain has been slowed by the response to the virus.
May be demand has outstripped the initial allocation already here ?

Unless I am mistaken that is only the case for mac pros bought by US customers.

Bernard do you read the diglloyd adventure trying to use the Macpro with Catalina...
https://diglloyd.com/

Personally i think it is a waste of money... Maybe the screen is worth it... ?
In a year time the iMac will be faster again... going to PCI-4.0
Or you have to buy the 28 core ( that at the moment seems to have problems with Catalina) ... and spend $$$
The people on Windows are faster spending only 4000$
AMD forces Intel at the moment to lower their prices - a 18 core intel i9 is about 1100$...

It has arrived.

In the end only one week delay compatibility to initial estimate.

Bernard
