Free screen sharing app?
« on: January 28, 2020, 04:12:19 pm »

I was using joinme.com for years, but now not free. Any recommendations on free app works great with people? (I'm on Mac)

every Mac has a built in free screen sharing app...do a spotlight search...
screen sharing has to be turned on in sys prefs
I doubt this can be used with people on windows, (not 100% on that)

Locally or across the internet?  I use https://assist.zoho.com for one-off remote control.  I also have a Splashtop subscription for my business customers (so they don't have to be present).  If you wanted to have them install something locally, TeamViewer has a free for personal use method - but the login code & password changes each time.  Just depends on what you're looking to do.

Thanks guys, please let me re-double my effort hear to make my wish clear:

Joinme.com  used to be free, and you could send an email invite to anyone on mac or windows, and reipient,  intuitively and easily. would see your computer screen whether they had the software or not. It was easy peasy on both ends. Mac/ PC  very intuitive.

But now they want $10 month.

Do you know anything that fits that bill? Free or low one time fee?   .....you invite someone who has mac or PC to see your screen, and it really easy, and they don't need the software on their end?

I use Zoho a lot - it works well.  I have a client that uses UberConference and loves it.  FreeConfCall is the only one I don't have direct hands on with, but I use their other software pretty frequently.

TeamViewer is another one that you can use, it changes the password everytime in the free mode, but would be a pretty repeatable setup if it's the same person every time.

Thanks Joe, which ones are free, share my screen easily, and non-intuitively with a guest or client; and they don't have to even have it or know anything.. ie, I sent them an email invite and they click and boom see my screen?

( I emailed the first 2 on list to ask this, don't have a reply yet)

Appreciate it.

It appears that Google Hangouts will do screen sharing. I have a conference call this afternoon, and plan to try it.

It worked, though not without hiccups. No audio on the first try, for example. But it did work fine on the second try.

I think all users need a Gmail account for it to work.
